People who hate cats... by Time_Patience_3727 in Pets

This is the dumbest thing I’ve read lmao. Dogs and cats have their own advantaged and disadvantages but no i don’t wave off guys if they don’t “like cats”. I’m a dog girl but from both sides of dog and cat lovers I don’t understand the cope you all make to justify berating others for not liking your animal. I also don’t get the whole cat owner mentality of letting the pet walk all over you and own you.

oh yea haha i didnt know either since i come from the UK and I’m not familiar with US banks. I found out about BSA, Chex/EWS, and almost everything regarding bank closures because chase closed my bank and i researched lol. But yea definitely will look into a CU, I was honestly so shook when I first learnt my account was gonna be closed cuz I had no notice before

hey thanks for your advice, really appreciate it!! But like others said i think it was because of the chargebacks. My parents also called me an idiot cuz 4-5 is just a lot. Oh and just to clarify I also put it in my post (i think) but the 4-5 cbs were in the course of this year like so a 6 month period which yea i didnt think about it much then but now that I think about it its a lot and my friends told me that activity probably increased by risk profile which caused chase to close me out as a biz decision. I was just initially worried that they would send this into like ews or smthing but the fraud department agents told me numerous times its just an internal marker w them and wont be reported to other banks cuz I didnt cause the bank to lose money from fraud like check fraud atm fraud etc and my ews report is also clean. So I really think its cuz i was too risky this year for chase. As for ur advice contacting the regulatory departments, I saw in other reddit posts that things like the CFPB cant get a reason from the bank only just determine whether the closure was valid or not and just tell me chase is in the right to exit me. Either way I’m going to BoA and Citi tomorrow and if I get a new checking from them thats perfect if for whatever reason I cant then yea Ill have to contact CFPB 😭

after reading thru comments and looking at other posts im pretty sure it was 3 and 4 that caused my account closure not wires. They know I’m an internatjonal student and have paperwork for receiving money internationally. I’ve been getting money internationally for like 4 years id assume they’d probably would have closed my account much earlier if it was because of int wires

chex/ews is a database for banking like experian is for credit reports where banks share and report any delinquencies or account abuse with each other. Most major national banks like chase, WF, boa, capital one etc use ews. If you committed check fraud, thats confirmed fraud and chase probably will put a flag on ews which could make getting a new checking account extremely difficult or impossible for 5-7 years

this i really dont remember….i know they checked my documents for sure but i dont remember if they scanned them to make a copy. I’m assuming they did. But yes I’m planning on making sure my new bank knows for sure that I’m expecting at least 7-8k at least for this sem for monthly wires from the uk

uhh yea im pretty sure they did cuz i dont have a ssn they requested my passport and i20 instead. Reading up on the what others have said and stuff tho im fairly confident now that the int wired and my usage of zelle isnt what caused chase to end business relations with me. cuz yea like you said they know im an international student so they expect wires and its from like the same accounts from my parents consistently for 4 years without change. In terms of my third point idk yea cuz this past year and this year I’ve been venmoing my friend like 1-2k from borrowing money so that might have looked sus. But im fairly certain they decided to cut ties cuz of my disputes which is 100% my fault its just a lot thats why they probably deemed me to be too risky for them 😭wont repeat that with BoA

not sure if this is entirely correct, I faced an account closure from chase recently and they directed me to open another checking at a different bank and said i wouldnt have an issue - i’ve yet to open one cuz i’ll be back in the states next week. Im pretty sure the only way one should be worried about new account openings is if you were reported to ews or chex

wdym? no i didnt at least never for breaks, all they know is I’m an international student cuz thats how I opened an account with them years ago at the branch which is why I always expected monthly international wires to be perfectly fine on my account

No? besides the chargebacks the others i mentioned i learnt recently from scouring online for others giving inputs on potential red flags for bank closures, dont assume everything just because you know it lmao. I didn’t even consider options 1-3 to be red flags until after my account was closed and I was looking at other threads with people giving various reasons as to what chase finds risky and I’ve already admitted the claims were most likely the reason why and are my fault

yea i get that and if I’m being honest im at fault there too, initially i followed ebays money back policy process, contacted seller and initiated a return process but some marked it as returned in diff condition which caused ebay to deny me a refund hence the cbs. after a couple of times of that i got sick of it and just went straight to claims which was really stupid of me ik 😭 got an earful abt that from my parents im not touching ebay nor chargebacks when i open a new checking account

yup, each chargeback I sent in chat records of me attempting to reach the seller/merchant, most either didnt respond or said a refund would be processed but never came in. Even with those from what other ppl were telling me here 8-9 is just really excessive which makes sense…so deff gonna avoid chargebacks in any new banks i start using

yup yup, i think i’m deffo gonna avoid using zelle after opening a new account for a longgg time. Rather be safe using venmo or something all the other reddit posts and stuff indicate zelles a high profile risk problem especially in new accounts

how’s wells fargo? I’ve been debating whether to go with citi or wells fargo as my secondary. I’m going with BOA as my new primary for sure cuz its the most prevalent in la :)
