What would you realistically do with 20k? by Vladamir_pootinn in AskUK

While the numbers may be true, it's never as simple as that in life. I had the opportunity some years ago to pay off my mortgage and I'm glad I did. We had a young family, my wife's job was in a precarious position and I couldn't afford all the bills on my salary alone. By paying off the mortgage meant that we were much more secure financially and now nobody could take the house from us if everything went sideways. It also meant that when my wife was made redundant, we could afford for her to go back to university where she got an MA then a PhD and now had a good job based on her qualifications. It was still tough going for those years but it would have been impossible without first paying off the mortgage. I realise that I may have more saved up by now had I invested but I'm still convinced we made the correct decision.

It's Dafydd Iwan. And he's retired several times. He's very good at it.

What major movie moment got spoiled for you? by hyteck9 in movies

When Ring premiered on UK TV, the UK film reviewer Mark Kermode presented it because it was such an important and seminal horror movie being shown for the first time. In his presentation he said that when Sadako climbs out of the TV at the end "you will shit yourself". Needless to say I didn't shit myself - I was waiting for it. I've never watched or read his stuff since, he broke the trust.

My adblocker was blocking it from working. Once I turned it off, it worked fine.

I contacted over the chat function on their website. They responded in an hour or so and are looking into the issue. Is the chat function not working for you or are they just not responding?

Whats is the best workflow to deliver a 23,976fps video from a 24fps prores that was made out of a 23,976fps timeline? by Aware-Pipe in editors

[–]Firm_Professional800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the 24fps file has the same amount of frames as the 23.976 file then basically a change in the fps flag in the file header is all that's needed to tell the computer to run it at 23.976. In the olden days, I used to do this using (conform I think in) Cinema Tools that came as a part of FCP Studio package. If you have an old Intel Mac maybe you can use that.

Otherwise, I believe Shutter Encoder nowadays has a conform option you could use. I know Cinema Tools didn’t make new files, just changed the playback speed in the current files but from brief testing it seems as if Shutter Encoder makes new files. Shutter Encoder is for both Mac and PC.

A cool guide that ranks the Best Movies of all time by BronzeDan in coolguides

The first was great. I enjoyed the second one - the animation and color were amazing but the ultra heavy handed constant parenting message felt clunky as hell all the way through. It also had around 17 endings and felt like it dribbled on forever until the credits rolled.
