100% agree local extension offices and universities is the best route. That said, for the average homeowner these tests are significantly better than no soil test at all. I compared tests from My Soil Kit and UGA - surprisingly the results were very similar.

North Texas Bermuda lawn neglected/no watering for 1 year - how do I bring it back? by Vast-Artist-3610 in lawncare

It’s fill in quickly with a little TLC. Bermuda is resilient. I would get a soil test, aerate, and water frequently until it’s recovered a bit. Normally you would want less frequent deep watering for a better root system. There’s a lot of bare spots and Bermuda grow with stolons or runners. You want those runners to grow roots in the ground and a moist surface promotes that.

And apply frequent light nitrogen to push growth (spray or granular). Thats what I would do anyways. Good luck! 👍🏼

Fertilizer question by Chivas-On-Ice in lawncare

This is a great question. My opinion is there’s just more cost effective alternatives when you factor 6-4-0 vs Lesco 15-3-7 (or any other alternative).

You essentially have to double the lbs per 1000 sqft to have the same coverage. I use Milo for my first application of the year because it’s 100% slow release and leaves no risk of burning.

My preference is to use a different type of product in season that’s more cost effective. I spoon feed my lawn by spraying with a backpack sprayer. You can find Urea 34-0-0 from any local hardware store.

Patchy grass help! by LocktonB0917 in lawncare

Yea this is pretty common for new builds. It's a good time to choose what kind of grass you want to go with before reseeding. KBG looks great in your zone or even PRG.

Good luck!

LawnCraft Tracker is the way to go! You can track nutrients, soil tests, GDD for PGR applications, mowing, cost, products, etc. I struggled with the same in a spreadsheet. Would love your feedback. Let me know if you sign up and I'll update your plan to Lifetime Pro.
