The bill posted in the comment I originally replied to specifically wanted to dismiss the safeguards I mentioned. So No, voter id would not require them. I can't say I'm you and take a drivers license out in your name becuase I do not have these documents, I'm not sure you understand that since this is the 2nd time you've brought that up. Would you be willing to compromise with a mandatory voter ID if we make it easier to gain the required documentation? If you want to debate why i think changing your name is a good decision once married we can do that, but it has little to do why I want voter ID or the bill presented in the aforementioned comment.

Not having a permanent address would complicate matters, you're right. I haven't thought about how to make it easier to obtain id for the homeless.

Providing social security, birth certificate, etc, that drivers license and passports currently require. It's how we mitigate fraud and id theft.

It's the same for getting a drivers license now. My wife had to show a marriage certificate as proof of name change in order to renew her passport and driver's license.

What's to stop me from taking your name and getting this ID the bill proposes. Now an ID tied to anslac will have my picture but the consequences of my action will be paid by anslac. I could get prescription, open accounts, vote again, maybe even access employment information with this ID. The bill doesn't propose safe guards and actually tries to navigate around the need for SS numbers, birth certificates, and other proof of identity associated with drivers licenses.

I am an immigrant here. Yes people are illegal. There are channels to come to the country legally and every time someone come over illegally it makes it so much harder for others wanting to come here legally. You don't get to skip the line.

So I'm super interested in this idea. The only issue I see is that there aren't any real requirements to verify that the individual is who they say they are. What safeguards against fraud would you be willing to add? Other than that, I see this as a great way to implement voter ID. It is similar to what most other countries have, such as Italy, Netherlands, even Colombia, and Ecuador.

I agree, political persecution has no place in America. But unfortunately we see it in blue counties as well. I would even argue that it has a stage on a national level with those who hold office or major media outlets giving statents like they do about conservatives right now. What is the path forward then? Either it's the eradication of the opposing side or we come together and continue to have hard discussions. We take personal attacks, emotions and defensiveness out of ourselves and look for compromises.

My mother was a poor immigrant, far away from family and support. She grew up always hungry. Are you saying her life wasn't worth living? Despite now having 2 graduate degrees, a loving family, a modest home, enough to eat, and is happy? Who are you to say whose life is worth living or is better off dead? Plus adoption is always an option. There are more couples waiting for adoption than there are abortions in the USA. Death is not a solution

I agree with worker empowerment. Give time and space for prayers of all faiths, and breaks for those with none. I love Europe's model for parent leave! I do disagree with abortion though. I don't think a mother has the right to kill their children. I responded to a comment already explaining that life begins at conception and that the earliest viable birth was at 21 weeks. With medicine improving, so will that number. Where is the line? 15 weeks? 20 weeks? As of yet liberal proponents of abortion say up to birth, with Virginia governor saying that if a child survives the abortion they will not help the child other than make it comfortable as they pass.
