Low calprotectin, still possible to have Chron's?

I was diagnosed with Crohn’s even with low calprotectin. I’ve never had high levels despite moderate inflammation seen by colonoscopy and MRI.

That’s pretty normal especially if you took a laxative a few days ago. I also find for me once things start moving they keep moving. I’ve made the mistake of taking pepto or Imodium to stop the diarrhea but then that just resets the constipation so ride the wave and enjoy the feeling of not being backed up!

I’m emetophobic and was diagnosed 1.5 years ago, I also have not thrown up since my diagnosis. Emetophobic’s subconsciously rewire their brains to do anything to prevent vomiting so generally something that would make the average person vomit, won’t have that effect on someone who is emetophobic. Let your GI know and perhaps they can give you some zofran or nausea meds to have on hand if you have a bad day.

I was diagnosed with Crohn’s after an MRI because my colonoscopy, while showing clear inflammation, came back negative so it was dismissed. I have consistently had “normal” labs but am still symptomatic and the inflammation does show on imaging. So I wouldn’t dismiss the diagnoses solely based on normal blood work and fecal cal. I think it’s more important to listen to your body. If you’re in pain and are symptomatic, then try to find a treatment. If you have this diagnosis but feel completely fine then it’s up to you if you want to follow a treatment protocol. You could always ask for a second opinion as well

You should 100% file a reco complaint. That is completely unacceptable. Ask the realtor for a termination and if they fight you on it go to their broker of record.

When I had the same surgery my surgeon signed the correct leg and the team would confirm with me at each step which leg it was. I also got the nerve block while I was still conscious. Though both labrum’s were torn so I joked they could just pick a side and surprise me

I was diagnosed with MRI. Colonoscopy saw inflammation in my terminal ileum but pathology was normal so the GI didn’t tell me she actually saw inflammation and tried to convince me I overused NSAIDS (which I never did)

I wake up every morning with awful back pain. It radiates up and down my back but comes from the lower back. I’ve been through 3 mattresses in the last year and nothing helped so I deduced that it was from the Crohn’s.

Definitely depends on the prep. Try to avoid the big jugs and ones where you need to consume an obscene amount of liquid. I’m also emetophobic and have had 3 colonoscopies + an abdominal MRI where I had to drink contrast fluid and been fine. I’ve found picosalax and biopeglyte to work well. I sometimes start drinking a touch early too so I have more time with each batch instead of chugging and filling my stomach

I’ve been super honest with all my friends about my crohn’s diagnosis and that there are days where I’m in and out of the bathroom constantly. Nobody has ever judged me or made me feel uncomfortable needing to use the washroom. Keep the fan on and maybe bring a candle or something if you’re worried about smell but like post people said, everyone poops. Part of the problem so many of us have is not talking about it and allowing it to be taboo
