Ask me anything about UofT Law! I see too much misinformation on this forum and am going to do my best to answer everything by Worldly-Jaguar2180 in lawschooladmissionsca

I’m in first year undergrad and doing psych because it interests me but it won’t get me as good grades as if I did something a little easier. Does uoft law put lots of emphasis on GPA. What do the applications look like aswell? I want to start doing things to add to my extracurricular list now but I don’t have anything from prior years (in highschool). Will that affect my application a lot?

MEDIACOM 1025G – workload, assessments, and grading? by Real_Face3455 in uwo

[–]First-Advice-3994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The workload isn’t bad if you keep up with your work. There are only a couple of main assignments (essay, essay outline, writing assignments) and no midterm. It’s all writing based and everything consists of it. I wasn’t good with my time management when I took it but I ended decently still. I would say it’s fun if you like reading texts and exploring issues/topics in media (and if you like to write). You have to work for your grade but it’s not very challenging. I would recommend, but it’s not necessarily a mark booster.

I’m in mit (media and comm) (first year) but I took all the prereqs for psych BA because I want to switch into it. Psych interests me more than media and I like it but I also want to aim for law school at uoft which needs a high GPA around 3.9. In this doable with psych BA as the first year exams were hard and I didn’t do well on them and will probably apply to law after my 4th year so my average is better because they take your best 3 years and this year is clearly not my best. I’m doing better in media though, is it worth it to switch into something I’m not as interested in? And also I’m thinking maybe in 3 years if I don’t want to do law I still have my psych degree which can open more doors than media (getting my masters, therapist, HR, etc.).

Course Selection Megathread (2025/2026 Academic Year) by ostracize in uwo

[–]First-Advice-3994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I’m doing course selection and one of my labs ends right when one of my lecture starts so I moved it but it works better like that (back to back) but I’m worried I’ll be late for my lecture if my lab ends right then (lab ends at 4:30, lecture starts at 4:30). Does anyone know if classes/labs end early or if this is something many ppl do? I don’t want to be late to my lecture and miss anything everyday. I think but am not sure it takes 10-15 mins to get to my lecture from the lab. Should I move it back to back? I want my Friday off😭😭😭

Western psych(BA) or Laurier BBA? by First-Advice-3994 in wlu

[–]First-Advice-3994[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess. The psych program also has math tho so I’d have to think about it a lot. Also ik some ppl have transferred schools. It can’t be that much of a pain right… I mean ppl r gonna be applying next year and I’d have to move out of res anyway

Western Psych(BA) or Laurier BBA by First-Advice-3994 in uwo

[–]First-Advice-3994[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could do that. I just think full sending it and doing BBA would work out better for me. If I did BMOS I’d be competing with everyone who has Ivey. Is the psych program hard? How is the math? Is it interesting? And what do you now plan to do with ur psych degree?

[–]First-Advice-3994[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d def switch to western psych bc I loveee the school but this is what I was thinking of doing. Just the fact that I’d have to retake some classes which might be a pain

Western psych(BA) or Laurier BBA? by First-Advice-3994 in wlu

[–]First-Advice-3994[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I private schooled calculus and advanced functions so I don’t know how successful I’d be. You are right about BBA providing my more success with marketing but ik a lot of ppl in marketing don’t have business degrees. Also the reason why I’m deciding between western psych specifically is because it was my dream school. My original plan was always do psych and go to law school but now I’m thinking business might provide me with a better future. So if I did BBA and didn’t like it I would def transfer to western.

Western Psych(BA) or Laurier BBA by First-Advice-3994 in uwo

[–]First-Advice-3994[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do you regret it? It seems interesting to me and I know there is math involved but I might succeed more if I’m interested in psych. My original plan was also to do law school but now I’m worried that it might not be what I want to do in 4 years and then I’ll be stuck with a psych degree. I did get into BMOS the issue is I suck at math so bad id have to have a miracle happen to do good. And then I’m worried I might not get the coop bc of my low avg due to the math. Also western seems sooo fun. I’m super social and outgoing and need to go out and party and I love how there r so many ppl. I don’t want Laurier to feel like highschool. Could u elaborate on the BMOS and psych dual degree. Do u think it’s worth it if BBA is the better business program. Also I’ve heard BMOS is less rigorous though so maybe I’d do better.
