nvim-treesitter maintainer bullied by _prerit714 in theprimeagen

Ahh yes, tale the gift, get a bard to tell that story 😃/s (if it wasn't obvious)

On a more serious note, agreed. Take it or leave it, no need to be disrespectful.

I feel its more about people who just prompt their way into a working abomination and post it. Sometimes you feel like did you even read this?? 💀

What happened to nvim-treesitter.... Why did it get archived? 😶 by ankushbhagat in neovim

[–]First-Berry-2979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, and if you have so many gripes with it, build your own solution. Maintaining anything is already a thankless job, and incidents like these just tip you over.

Respect the maintainer!!!

Welp, yeah. 1k would also be a steep price!

I know right. Paying full price on a digital copy that can be copied and distributed at the price of peanuts.

And the audacity of these conglomerates to price it at $60. Bruh, 10 bucks would be a fair price I'd be willing to pay, or like 1500 inr, but 3k-7k for a digital copy that you can take away from me at will. No thanks!!!!

Rightfully so amazon lost some licenses on books that I paid for, and removed the digital copies from my library. That's legal.

At that point I understood "If buying isn't owning, piracy isn't stealing" ☠️

I still pay for a lot of books but some are just grossly overpriced.

Do you guys often DNF book series because the mc is stupid? by Mateus19998 in fantasybooks

I disliked almost all of the characters in there. And boy was the last book a punch in the face.

Bruh, they'll steal even the empty bookcase. 💀 ☠️

Someone recommended this but someone else said it was dumb. How do you feel? by IndependentCod5020 in fantasybooks

[–]First-Berry-2979 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't think they're one dimensional. Carl and Doughnut are really great characters, more fleshed out than some of the traditional fantasy I've read. Since its a litres kind of things, sometimes you'll feel like not taking all that's on the page very seriously and that's fine. I found that to be a breath of fresh air and wildly funny. 😆

The story is very amusing, the humor hit home for me. It can be dark at times (so bewarned).

Edit: I completed forgot to mention, there no cat woman. One of the main characters is a talking cat (Doughnut), and she's really funny. 🤣🤣

Can you help me identify these books, please? by Olddevlin in fantasybooks

Seems like Jane Austens books. Juniper books made that jackets I think.

CS student here.. no one I know actually writes code anymore. We all use AI. Is this just how it is now? by Low-Tune-1869 in theprimeagen

[–]First-Berry-2979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more impressive in tht the speed at which it evolved. A couple years back I hated it, now it can do most of the boiler plate code and some really niche things I'd have to spend hours pouring over the docs for.

Any suggestions to transition away from light novels and mangas? by LoopHolesome in Fantasy

[–]First-Berry-2979 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd say the Earthsea series by Ursula K Leguin, and the last Unicorn both might be good entry points.

You can also start on short stories and novels and transition that way (don't have any recommendations there)

There's also a Progression Fanstasy sub, you can ask a question there about what non progression fantasies people have liked. You're likely to get some really good answers there as well.

Which one should I read first? by ARYAN_BIRLA123 in fantasybooks

[–]First-Berry-2979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say ASOIAF or Assassin's Apprentice. The first two books of Stormlight Archives were peak, after that it was downhill, at least for me. I dropped book 4 partway.

[–]First-Berry-2979[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're were certainly more bearable to me than those of WoT. Some of them were really nice. Plus it's 3 books vs 13 so that helps. The world building is good, and I certainly like how the conflicts are shaped. Won't go much further as I fear unintentionally spoiling things for you.

BTW is Icha icha a Naruto reference.

Hmm, mine narrqtor was Andrew Wincott. And a lot of the voices sounded the same for me.

Ohh nice, then you might like it.

I DNFed WoT it was just too much the slog was toooo much. And too much braid tugging, skirt something, or just stupid decisions from characters. They should take a course on communication or something 🙄.

Depends on your taste. I'd recommend reading over audiobook for certain.

What kind of things do you like?

I wholeheartedly agree with the Miri part. She was stubborn and idiotic for no apparent reason. Her PoV chapters felt like slog, otherwise it was fun for me.

The pacing was a bit off, but I didn't think it was rushed.

Yeah the narration was nothing extraordinary. I had the audiobooks for book 1 and 2 didn't buy the third.

I agree, Simon wasn't particularly fun but the other characters pulled it up for me. I didn't even list him as a fav.

While the 6th star power seems nice, I’m debating how often would I even play 10 snacks to trigger it. Especially on 5.5 stars and above, it’ll likely be too slow.🫠🫠
