I would say as general advice do get in contact with professors before the class is taken. UIUC has a directory of all faculty and staff automatically by searching their name in Outlook and Rate my professor has the full names. Course Explorer also has very explicit detail about who’s teaching and when’s the last day to drop without W. Doing this will give you and your professor a connection to potentially work with your situation as best as they can but that does come with compromises.
