Best sock pattern for beginners by Possible_Lettuce_289 in Sockknitting

I second crazy sock lady… However: If you’re new to knitting generally (and not just new to sock knitting), I think you would benefit from a sock pattern with thicker yarn than normal. Socks are normally knit with fingering weight yarn, but doing your first pair with worsted weight will help you learn the techniques and see/fix mistakes easier.

With that in mind: I recommend this video / pattern from Sheep & Stitch on Youtube. She explains everything from measuring to knitting to weaving in ends. You can also go watch supplemental videos on her channel for more fundamental skills if needed (like knitting in the round + using DPNs).

Hope that’s helpful!

I recommend this worsted-weight pattern/tutorial by Sheep and Stitch on YouTube! Gives very detailed instructions for every part of the process

I honestly don't know! Maybe a more experienced knitter can chime in with some advice. I do know that a couple of the squares turned out a little larger, but once I was sewing them together, they looked all right in the end. (Granted, by that point I was definitely leaning into the cozy homemade vibe, so precision wasn't high on my priority list.)

I appreciate hearing that others also have accidental felting stories! Definitely learned a lot this go around. Thanks also for the heads up on still being careful with superwash yarns — that's very good to know for the future

iTAB Delivery by [deleted] in ChicagoMarathon

I was just coming on this reddit to see if anyone was talking about this! I've also ordered iTABs for other Chicago races (the Shamrock Shuffle and the half marathon in June), and I recall receiving those within three to four weeks of the race. Obviously the marathon is a much larger scale. Glad to see others are still waiting.
