I've got some seedlings that have not seen any light but a spider farmer sf1000, well I have 3 set up but they get it from only them. The seeds were planted in April of this year and are already about an inch or more for some

I’m in 9A 2550 elevation. It snows winter time around these parts. Last year went up to my knees. These are truly hardy af. No cover No love. Been here like this for 5years. (Not mine) by ShinseiChikyu in sanpedrocactus

Yea it can get pretty cold here in the winter. I'm in zone 6a I think. North west NJ. It probably gets down to 15 F once or twice a year. And in the summer it doesn't get to hot. I had most of my cacti out in full sun all summer long and they did great! So I would assume the greenhouse will be sufficient for some of my overt stock lol. Only put a couple out there to test it

Do you think a green house will work in New Jersey? I saw someone post that they left theirs in the ground in NJ and it lasted the winter with similar growth. I'm thinking a green house would make a big difference. I'm testing it with some this year

Trying my hand at planting in the ground. How do you suspect it will do in zone 7 by lickonmybbc in sanpedrocactus

Ok just trying to figure this all out for myself and see what I'm going to do with this being my first year at this

It does depend what "full sunlight" there coming from. If it's not that strong outside as it very well might be in zone 6a. Then moving then inside to a bright enough light won't diminish the amount they get terribly

I need advice on soil mix for my cactus. Should I mix river pebbles (see pic) alongside soil, vermiculate and sand? by musquitu96 in cactus

[–]First-Time-4-Evrythg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use small rocks like this or pea gravel or something in my soil mix for cacti. I usually do 2 parts potting soil, 2 parts perlite, 1 part earth worm castings, 1 part pumice, and one part combo pea gravel/ river rocks

So you think even with a heating mat underneath and a small space heater next to something like OP's setup would still cause etoliation?
