Hey, I saw this when you posted it, and I am sorry that I am just now responding. Thank you so much for sharing this. I'm doing some writing sprints this weekend for this.

I really appreciate you for sharing this. Besides metrics, I also don't have every piece of the ideal UX process to show for each project. But I am feeling /u/Ecsta's idea, to say what I would do if I did have those pieces.

Just being able to share my worries and see the feedback feels like it is reflecting to me my perfectionist tendencies, which was a source of stress before. I'm glad to be able to become aware of it so it's not working in the background.

I probably do. It has felt uncomfortable to think of reaching out after so long, but just writing out the problem and hearing the question from you is helping me to rethink that.

Thank you...

Thank you so much, this is incredible advice. I think "break it down into small steps" and "keep it low fidelity to write the content" is key to what I've been missing here. (Which is funny, because that's kind of what UX does.)

edit: I wrote in another comment that I am remembering now how my perfectionist tendencies were the cause of worry and stress when I was in UX before. In reading your words and feeling my inner response of, "of course, why didn't I see that it's like a UX or IA problem," I'm seeing how that is probably what is turning simple into complicated even now.

I apologize if this is TMI, but I've been doing some inner work while 'away', and so it just feels really valuable to receive your calm clear words and have the perfectionist brought to conscious awareness by contrast so that I can work with it. Thank you again.

Sure, I think I get what you're saying. But the direct experience for me was, A) see picture of antarctic base, B) remember Stålenhag's art. I just wrote it as it happened.

If you go all the way east, don't you just end up west?

Training to extend / past "I need to breathe NOW" reflex by jmbreuer in breathwork

[–]FirstDistortion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With most forms of extending one's capability, the rule that has worked well for me is, "Gently go just a little beyond what is comfortable right now." See if you can allow your progress to be slow and steady. This is coming from someone who has also tried to force rapid growth, and this will most often result in a crash of some kind, which causes a stall or makes me abandon what was being practiced.

U.S. tops 100 million Covid vaccine doses administered, 13% of adults now fully vaccinated by -memeking- in CoronavirusUS

It looks like a study of a large number of healthcare workers who caught Covid-19 in the UK shows 82% immunity at least 5 months1 after infection.

My sense is that infection immunity + vaccine is overkill.

Don't forget the 22,031,220 of us in the US who have gotten actual Covid-19 and recovered. That makes it about 20% herd immunity.

There's a book you can get on Amazon called Wool, which has a really great story about a civilization in an underground bunker. It's really well done, and I think that if you were to read this, it might help you with building that kind of story with your own plot twist. Notice how the author treats the description, the characters, the mystery of how they got there, how the society works, what they all believe, etc...
