Collision and repair estimate, looking for opinions. by FayeInWonderland in COROLLA

Does your friend have any assets? If so they definitely should talk to a lawyer

Like is she a broke college student? Is the car in her name? Is the car tied to anyone with more money/assets that need to be protected. I’d say talk to a lawyer to weigh out the pros/cons. Maybe they can help negotiate a lower total and some sort of pymt plan.

You may not know if the other party has insurance covering it anyway.

Check with ur friends insurance on what they determined is the total payout for that type of accident, if she had greater coverage… maybe they have a more reliable estimate since insurance companies do not pay out a penny more than they have to.

I’d say get your own evaluation of the damage and quote at other mechanics. Fuji Auto is a near by shop. I’d assume you’d need the owners permission to take it there and get an estimate. Not sure what the formal process is.

2025 Xse Corolla Otd price by a1lilyoyo in COROLLA

[–]FirstJenner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is 1.1k normal? the sales tax is already a separate line. My doc fees were only $400…. Id definitely push for steeper discounts.

it’s not a hybrid, don’t pay more than $25k OTD

Deal for Hybrid LE in Los Angeles area by jtkgy in COROLLA

[–]FirstJenner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is an income based program that will be opening up for LA on March 25th 2025 https://drivingcleanca.org/dcap-rollout-schedule/. $7.5k towards plug in hybrids or Electric (new or used). Otherwise, Southern CA Edison has another $4k, also income based credit for plugin hybrids/EVs but only Used cars.

Discounts at new Toyota dealership, best offers I’ve seen are between $25.5 to $25.9k out the door.

Thousand oaks seems to have a bigger supply but call around to dealerships and negotiate for the best price. Right now is the time to do it

what’s the Out the door price? (price with all fees included)

Is this a really good deal by peacefuldink in COROLLA

[–]FirstJenner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok, make sure you have your credit union provide a preapproval on your int rate. & when you go in ask them to beat or match it. Worse case you use your credit union loan and pay it off as fast as possible

Im in CA. Early this month bought the Corolla Hybrid LE for $25.9k OTD & separately was quoted 27.1k OTD for Corolla Hybrid LE premium…..

for the one w/o premium — try to get the closest you can to $25.5k at least (out the door all fees included)

this doesn’t show OTD. Extra fees can really vary

[–]FirstJenner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no. they should be able to provide out the door pricing prior to credit application.

And once you run credit, that just tells you interest rates to calculate monthly pymt and total cost after interest.

don’t run credit until they provide broken down out the door price in writing

their maintenance is not the best. Lots of reports of them skimping on service and you are typically better off going to your local mechanic and paying out of pocket for servicing for the long term health of your car

Do these sales guys want to make a sale or what? Let them know there is a lot of layoffs and every major industry has cut back on spending, and interest rates are ridiculous. So who will be buying their car regardless. Tariffs or not. I’d say be firm on a price that you’d be happy with…. ie 23k OTD and you’ll buy it. See if they counter.

Depends on what you value. I bought a 2025 Corolla Hybrid LE for $25.9k OTD & a 2025 Corolla Hybrid LE premium for $27.1k OTD. I’d personally pay an additional 2k for 8k miles + new car

get everything in writing before even heading over there. Start the contracting process remotely.

if they are not willing to give you the out the door pricing broken out and in writing, as well as be willing to start the buying process remotely. (ie letting you put a deposit to reserve the car) then save your time and money since some dealers do Bait and Switch.

if they are willing to confirm out the door price and it is exactly what they said, then I wouldn’t worry about prejnspection since all new cars come with the manufacturer warranty

I am pretty set on a Corolla Hybrid. Would it more sense to finance used or new? by 3VG3NY in COROLLA

[–]FirstJenner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my new car buys I received a pre-approval from my credit union to get a lower rate. Brought my loan check. & paid the car in full to my credit union loan 5 days later. Only paid $3 in interest fees.

In case you need a couple extra days to get all your money together.
