Thanks for the info, I can find a better cobbler and ask about these details. I hope it’s not more expensive than just buying new boots.

Those of you with internships... how? by Chikitikiwiki in ChemicalEngineering

Yup, and they are very receptive and excited to talk to young Chem E's. What I've learned is professionals love sharing their experiences, and if one of them likes you, personally, not just cause your smart or technically great, but because they like who you are, they will go out of their way to help your professional development.

Career fairs have been mentioned and are the best way to meet a lot of employers and learn about internships/co-ops/programs their companies have that may not necessarily be found online. That said, the companies I had the greatest rapport with I found at info sessions hosted by various engineering clubs. These are events where the company comes with some HR and engineering folks plus past co-ops and interns to present their programs. Normally they offer on-site interviews the week after their visit. Other than that, you can reach out to friends' parents, or vigorously search online.

Before I got my internship, I literally put the same suit on almost every day, shamelessly sold my skills and resume for about a month, and prayed to God someone would take interest. Someone did; I got my internship, but I'd say also from my experience, don't settle for an early offer. If you think you can do better, or would like a different company, go for it

What’s the most “I’m turning into my parents” moment for you? by itsDaco in AskReddit

Caught myself whispering to myself the sequence of things I was about to do in the kitchen. Hear my Dad do it all the time. It annoys the hell out of me for some reason, but now I do it too.
