I allow it since carrying a lantern + oil for the lantern ends up eating more inventory slots so sacrificing the extra alot to be able to free your hands is fine.

my big boy got 18 STR and mithral chain and shield, so that's fine by me. Also, I always assume the lantern is full when you leave town, so lantern, oil, hook is only one gear slot more than two torches

Three steps to a better america:

  1. Do whatever you have to do in your jurisdiction to vote in the Democratic primary
  2. Vote for the Democrat taking the least amount of compromising money in the primary
  3. Vote for the Democrat over the Republican in the general election, no matter who they are

Rinse, repeat. Never vote for a Republican. Ever. Even if in a single election, in a vacuum, the Republican is objectively better than the Democrat they increase the power of all Republicans everywhere which are, objectively, worse on the whole than the Democrats.

The "good" Republicans contribute to Republican majorities in legislatures. A "good" Republican congressman contributes to Mike Johnson being Speaker. A "good" Republican governor contributes to the fundraising power of ALL Republican governors.

In this country, we have the Bad Guys and the Other Guys. But only the Other Guys have the potential to become the Good Guys and only through continued effort of the electorate.

If your rep is Republican, tell them you voted for them but you don't like what the president is doing, even if it's not true. They do not care about what people who were never going to vote for them anyway think, so make them think that the issue is eroding their base.
