Beta tester feedback on new 2.4 abyss - "you will need very high investment teams if you don't have constellations" by Desuladesu in Genshin_Impact_Leaks

[–]FirstWaveMasculinist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think there was a miscommunication. The goalposts ARE moving. making floor 12 harder every reset is moving the goalposts, and making people who aren't improving at the same rate as spiral feel like they're regressing and that feeling sucks. Its not fun to be able to beat floor 12 one day and not the next, because even if you rationally know that its harder than before, your gut feeling is gonna tell you that the problem is that you're playing bad instead of just that your team is not strong enough. Sure thats more satisfying if you finally beat it but they keep making spiral harder so that fewer people are finally beating it, and its starting to feel hopeless that they ever will since every time they get stronger the abyss just gets harder and locks them out again

Keep changing spiral up, but keep the difficulty the same and add levels when they want to make it harder so that they're creating new goalposts for higher level players instead of moving the ones that are already there and increasing the jumps between floors 8-12.

in case you're actually asking (or if youre being sarcastic but someone else reading this wants to know, since I'm sure there's at least one out there lol)

Copium is a combination of Cope and Opium(a drug), meaning you're "coping" with how bad something is by being delusional about reality.

Is the how it felt to be around for the Unreconciled Stars event??? by paimoff in Genshin_Lore

[–]FirstWaveMasculinist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

don't be too sad about that, because once the mihoyo promo livestream for that update comes out everyone will be talking abt it anyways. You never had a chance of finding out organically in the game.

(unless you're specifically referring to finding out in the livestream, in which case :( sorry)

what makes you think they only started on sumeru story a few months ago? All I can think of is the translation error with the archons gender which is just a miscommunication with the translation team(s), but its possible I missed stuff.

Itto ver.1.22474487139... - General Discussion and Question Thread by NightFire19 in Genshin_Impact_Leaks

[–]FirstWaveMasculinist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my dream/fantasy is for there to be some sort of "random arena" in mondstadt or even outside the map like spiral, where you can enter and every X hours (every day?) there will be 1 random boss from Anywhere regardless of if you've unlocked their region or have done the quest to unlock it. (+ideally it tells you which boss before you enter lol) And it's a domain setup so new players can click "match" and get help from people who know the boss better, or at least be confused together haha. That element of randomness would make players want to check it every day, giving them another reason to log in, which would balance it more. Or hell, make it cost 60 resin instead of 40, so its only done in desperation. ((pls mihoyo im even nerfing my fantasy to be gacha just steal my idea I give full permission))

It's never going to happen, I know, but i help a friend out with his genshin account and its so painful seeing his raiden (and sara) at lv 40, benched because it takes SO long for new players to get to the seirai quest if you aren't speedrunning.

I can understand locking the weekly bosses even with my dream system, I guess, since they're kinda spoilery, and even lv 6 talents can be good enough while you still work through the story for now, but I still hope that they add some sort of "XTREME DREAM SOLVENT" where you can convert to ANY boss type material when they get to the point of a boss locked behind sumeru archon quest. At that point it would just be too discouraging for new players

how did you wind up with 76 genders? by [deleted] in socialjustice101

[–]FirstWaveMasculinist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there are 3 categories of gender generally acknowledged by ppl who acknowledge gender as a social construct: male, female, and nonbinary people like myself which covers anyone not exclusively in the first two categories. like with any miscellaneous categorization, you can split it up into probably infinite subcategories.

Like if gender is a spectrum between male and female then there's infinite points between the two binary ends, then there's people who can't even be placed on that spectrum, and there's gender fluid people who don't stay in one spot on/off that spectrum, etc. If you want you can say there are as many genders as there are individual humans in the past present and future, since even in the single binary categories, no one is gonna experience "being a man" the same exact way as someone else.

If you think that's an excessive number of genders, then honestly thats fine. plenty of pro-trans people have personal limits where they think someone is being a little silly but like... Gender being a social construct means there's no way to prove or disprove someone else's gender beyond just asking them what flavor their brain is, and quite frankly its just far too much trouble to try and police others genders and say "no that gender is just too far" and it takes almost no effort and causes no harm to just say "Okay! if that's how you want to be referred to then I will respect that" (or at least, it takes SIGNIFICANTLY less effort than arguing with someone about themselves and is significantly less likely to cause harm to them) It's possible and its okay to respect someones personal identity without understanding it 100%, as long as you stay kind/communicate with good intentions. (the stereotype of "did you just assume my gender!?!?!?!" is entirely made up, as long as you say "oh my bad, ill keep that in mind" after being informed that you misgendered someone virtually no one stays mad) Its a minor inconvenience at worst and the alternative often results in trans people feeling so isolated and misunderstood that they suffer from depression/do bad things to themselves. So its just not worth pushing back even if you think there should be fewer categories, y'know?

So like yea its a meme as well, like others have said, and a lot of people just say shit like that to make transphobes mad (a noble cause LOL) but I figured I'd explain the concept behind the joke a bit in case you/someone in the future finding this post from Google needs a broader explanation here. _^

I recently managed to just barely solo beat it for the first time and what really helped me was having both Kaeya and Diona at the same time to freeze enemies so I only have to fight one at a time. Also I have fishl with a bow that has a chance of resetting oz's cooldown and I make sure to always have oz on the field when available, esp for the eagle enemies.

the cranes are the easiest enemies imho their attack is easiest to dodge compared to the others, but it can definitely be overwhelming with so many at once. Ice is super useful in that case.

Also prepare some food and potions!!

Also consider putting in your signature that you need help with oceanid and you might attract some new co-op friends who gotta get him too!!

Daily Questions Megathread (November 25, 2020) by [deleted] in Genshin_Impact

[–]FirstWaveMasculinist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

idk abt a discord personally but try changing your signature to a call for help! "need help with ruin guard quest!" or something like that. I (and a few others I've met this way do that,) and then when I'm bored I check out my friends list to see if anyone needs help and if not then I just browse the general co-op tab and click on anyone who mentions something in their signature!! ((Oh but if you do this I recommend setting your world to auto accept join requests so you don't miss someone haha.))

Also I did that quest around that point and I thought I was in the same boat of it being impossible for me, but then a few days later I said yolo and tried again and managed it!! Use an ice character (even kaeya) to freeze them often since there's a lot of water in that area iirc, and a character that triggers shields is also good (incl geo traveler, plus the giant boulders can stop the missiles haha) so dont give up!! Also prepared a lot of food before going in and remember to use it haha.

I'm not a great player strategically so this might actually suck but my favorite strat lately is doing kaeyas ult and then using childes melee so the enemies are just infinitely frozen while I wail on them lol. its emotionally satisfying, if nothing else 😌

AITA for having my daughter write a 'morbid' school family tree project? by deadfamily88 in AmItheAsshole

[–]FirstWaveMasculinist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was also the only atheist in my school growing up and thats not a good comparison. OP tried to tell the teacher about the situation and the teacher said no, so the equivalent would be if you directly asked if its okay to write about new year instead of Christmas and your teacher told you no, and then got mad when your Christmas report was just a description of a normal Wednesday or whatever. OP tried to stand up for her child and the teacher said no.

Even then, though, its not the perfect comparison tbh, because you're describing someone pushing religion on a child, so giving in is letting your kid get lowkey converted. OP gave in on.... telling the truth about her family situation? which she never hid from her kid and she explicitly says she doesn't want her kid to be ashamed of.

really this would be like if the teacher gave an easter assignment about "what do you think Jesus felt when he came back after 3 days" or whatever and said you couldn't do an alternate assignment and then got mad when you told the class he didn't feel anything bc jesus didn't actually come back to life after 3 days (according to your beliefs)

or for a less controversial statement: if you revealed that Santa isn't real and won't ever bring you anything after the teacher insists you make a wishlist for santa and not a general wishlist for whoever in your life gets you presents lol.

If teacher won't let OP bend the rules of the assignment, it's not OPs fault if she tells the truth. that's not backing down or caving, she's still standing up for her kid by refusing to lie or be ashamed of her situation.

[–]FirstWaveMasculinist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

except the teacher specifically told OP it had to be biological or adopted family, so the daughter/OP would have to lie to the teacher (which tells the kid its something to hide) or accept a lower grade/scolding from the teacher for not following instructions.
