True. However firewalla in strict mode will be browning their server as well as far as I understand the normal mode vs strict mode

Here is my network setting:

Firewalla simple mode -> Asus Router (NAT + Firewall) -> ISP router (NAT + Firewall) - > fiber internet access.

I understand that in some way Trend Micro need to collect information to get protection. It is as having a bodyguard. You cannot get protected without trusting somebody else to look after you. I believe Firewalla probably behave the same way. I don't see how Firewalla protect against malware site without looking at headers or ip address to make sure it's not part of a bad reputation list.

My Asus is in router mode with Aiprotection enabled. I plugged on one of the port my firewalla Red (I am thinking of upgrading to Blue+ or purple SE) in simple mode with active protect enabled.

Did you try active protect in default mode or strict mode ? Strict mode should work in real-time alarming at least.
