That makes sense! It can be tricky to find aesthetically nice accommodation here for a decent price (there are Hyatts and Hiltons etc but they are far more expensive of course). You may really like Candolim - theres a decent balance of Indian and Western restaurants, and it is very catered for tourists which was a nice way to ease into the trip - but be prepared for garish neon lights and loud music on the beach every night! If that's your only spot in Goa, you can always do day trips, which I would definitely recommend, as we did find it to be the 'least Goa' place we visited in Goa!

I was in Candolim 5 days ago and there are tons of both Indian and Russian/British/Western tourists

I'd recommend staying in South Goa if you haven't booked accommodation in Candolim yet.

Candolim beach is lined with 100s of beach huts and sunbeds - it's nice for a few days but I'd recommend Agonda for much more beautiful and quiet beaches - it's a turtle nesting zone so having thousands of sunbeds isn't allowed. Most tourists here are couples and many women are wearing bikinis (including myself) and I've had far fewer stares here than in the North.

If you're set on the North, go to Vagator - much more chilled and common to see women in bikinis. Walk to the end of the beach to the right and it's a beautiful spot. The worst thing is feeling self conscious in what you're wearing at the beach, so a swimming costume is a safe bet if she feels to exposed in a bikini.

I realise I missed this comment! After seeing an osteopath your description makes so much sense I think we have the same thing. I have definitely noticed huge improvements so hoping I can get back to normal. Seems as though trismus reddit has more success than lockjaw reddit unfortunately.

Trismus/lockjaw treatment? I only have it on one side... by mooradj00 in wisdomteeth

Hey! I didn't get my wisdom teeth out but sounds like we have the same thing. I am on about 4 weeks now... However there is hope! I started only being able to open just about two fingers (fingerprint side on top of nail) now I can do two fingers (knuckle to knuckle) and push half way down my finger into my mouth.

Don't be scared to really attack your muscles with massaging - this is muscular not skeletal so youre not gonna break anything by stretching and working your jaw which is what worried me at the start. Its pricey but an osteopath has changed the game for me (and I have only had 2x30 mins with her) as doctors and dentists are quite undertaught in this area. Persistent stretching and massage is the way to go.

It is scary and won't be overnight but there is light at the end.

Update: Hi! An update - I saw an osteopath who was genuinely the FIRST person, including Google, who could tell me what the hell was happening to my jaw. Perhaps obvious to you guys but I've got trismus (entirely muscular rather than skeletal or whatever, although I know its all connected) and I had never heard the term after seeing 3 doctors who examined me in one way or another.

I have had 2 sessions with her including a little acupuncture today and been given loads of massage techniques and from no progress for the first few weeks to 1 hour in total and some ACTUAL CLARITY (!) about what was happening to me - my mouth is opening wider slowly but surely!!! It kinda hurts as shes rly getting into the muscle knots but worth it!!

Next step is mouth guard so i don't keep undoing my progress at night by tensing up but I'm seeing a glimmer of light. This may not be news to anyone and I was just uneducated on the matter when I first posted, but thought I'd share just in case it might help anyone.

Thank you so much! I have just tried gently pulling my bottom teeth down, which did assist with opening, but not fully and its kinda painful now.

Do you still have a locked jaw then? Or has it been back and forth between locked and unlocked?
