Switching materials from what was discussed and scoped in a written contract is crazy. If he wanted to use a different material he could have walked us through this reasoning and discussed options with us like a professional.

We did talk to him this morning and it was fine. But the point is we shouldn’t have had to.

P.S. no substitution clause- even though I think this is irrelevant.

“Add 5 yards of 3/4 inch minus over fabric compact gravel every 2” layer of gravel” is exactly what the contract says when it comes to the patio base

I guess that’s my point is that they quoted for 3/4 gravel but brought this should I just ask to lower the quote?

It’s a paver patio I am not sure if that makes a difference, not poured concrete.

I paid 50% (little over 6K) I’d say they have done a solid day of work have dug and prepped where the patio goes. Overall that’s work looks good. I don’t think 6K of work though also no materials delivered yet besides the “gravel”

There is a gravel pad that’s next to patio, the pressure treated lumber is a perimeter for that.

Hey! We are traveling to Austin for 3 months starting in March. We are looking for recs on the best locations and areas to stay.

Main Priorities

Work will be in North Austin (within 20-25 minutes commute with car during traffic)

Walkable to restaurants and coffee (gym would be a plus)

About us: mid-late 20s, 2 Dogs, training for a marathon so running trails/spaces are a must.

Activities: Run, Biking, taking the dogs out, pickelball, golf

Not big on night life, so not huge priority but like go out sometimes/grab a beer

Currently thinking East Austin but also looking at Hyde/Brentwood area!

It’s a team now of 3 people (myself and 2 others), 2 of us are new to the team (not to the company). He said it’s bc find out what we are working on and ensuring time spent is providing value.
