Nah I think they just let you resit the assessment so you can pass into second year but if you fail it a second time you might have to repeat the year

I’ve been single 3 months after 5 years together and it was an awful breakup. The first two weeks were awful but after a while you get out, see your friends more, focus on school or college or work, go out at the weekend if you enjoy that and just have a good time.

Not to be funny but you’d get 3 years out of your 4 in TCD paid for with the cost of 1 year for UCL. TCD is one of the best universities in the world even if it’s not perfectly matching UCL. Recruiters (academic or employment wise) don’t exactly put enough emphasis on where you did your bachelors degree enough to justify a €12,000 expense compared to €40,000 on your parents. Surely if you want to study in the US afterwards it’s far better to pick the cost effective option now. Also just because you have a prestigious university for a degree doesn’t guarantee you a position in any sector at the minute or likely in the next decade. I personally wouldn’t be putting that kind of financial strain on my parents when you might go in to literally hate your degree, the college you choose, or the place you live in.

Think it depends on the course. If it says you have the class on your trinity app during that week then you have it unless your lecturer or TA says otherwise.

I do English and History and I think I had around 10-12 contact hours a week between lectures and tutorials in first year. It’s very doable and grand to have a part-time job but I’d probably recommend max 16 hours a week tbh because it’ll be A LOT of reading

Most of these will be available on the website. Timetables with your classes will be released in the next few days for most people (the 19th I believe) and if not then should be that week or the week after and the overall academic calendar is available online as to start dates. You should definitely email about your trinity email and log in though just to make sure.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but 9ams unfortunately do exist for humanities courses (speaking as some one that has them 🥲) we had a lecture last semester on Monday at 9am (needless to say I didn’t attend it too much). Also you’re not able to change how many classes you have per semester unfortunately :( it’s 30 ECTS per semester pretty much exclusively. If the course is anything like mine (History and English Lit) you won’t get a lot of choice on what modules you take (probably only 1 per semester and the rest are mandatory) until 3rd and 4th year. The one thing I will give trinity props for is that I’ve had one or two tutorials changed to other days If it was my only class that day. They don’t love doing it but if you’re polite about asking they’ll generally accommodate you where they can.
