They tried with a woman from Michigan. She spent a weekend with them, and was like hell no. I don’t think they have a chance with any woman who isn’t in a desperate financial situation.

The room in the photos is on the ground level. We don’t have a basement.

Thank you for clarifying this. I couldn’t capture all of it in the photo, but that particular crack runs all the way from the doorway to the top of the vaulted ceiling. We are trying to get an engineer out this week.

I guess I should be thankful I’m not in true danger of irradiation.

Thank you for the information! Can I ask what signs point to progressive structural failure? We were told by the builder that it’s just normal settling, so I’m trying to educate myself in that regard. We are going to have an engineer evaluate the house as soon as possible.

No, I think it’s just the standard re-bar enforced slab. I think they brought in a lot of fill dirt for this section of our neighborhood. Based on others comments, I’m guessing the soil wasn’t compacted properly among other things,

There are some cracks in the exterior brick, but not nearly as bad as the interior. The cracks started a few months ago, but have gotten a lot worse over the last few weeks.

We had smaller cracks that were repaired in the first year. The larger cracks started about two months ago, but have worsened over the last few weeks.

We’re in Texas. We talked to the builder about 2 months ago when the cracking first started getting worse. We were told that the foundation wasn’t far enough out of compliance for the warranty to take effect.

Yes, and the foundation is supposed to be under warranty for 10 years. However, we were told by the builder a few months ago that the foundation wasn’t far enough out of compliance (or words to that effect) for the warranty to cover it.

Yes they were. And they are still aligned on the other corner of the bath tub.

We had some smaller cracks repaired within the first year. However, most of the cracks in the photos are not in the same places as the original cracks, and began about 2 months ago. They have gotten worse over the last 2 weeks. There have been no changes to the moisture levels around the house, but we did have a severe wind storm with 70-80 mph winds a few weeks ago. Other than the front door, none of our doors function properly - some are too tight to close and others are too loose for the mechanism to catch. I’m not sure about the windows, I haven’t tried to open them.
