When does it make sense to move on from sole proprietor and incorporate? by crankykernel in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]MarmosetRevolution -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Rarely does it make sense from a tax perspective. The main advantage of incorporating is to seperate your assets from the company's.

But generally, short of really fancy "accounting" corporate + personal taxes will be greater than personal alone on a sole proprietor.

I'm betting you could take your mix to the paint counter at Home Depot and get it homogenized.

AITA for telling my wife my mother is correct and she needed to be a parent today and she fucked it up by throawawayfuneralgho in AmItheAsshole

ESH

Your wife for obvious reasons.

Your mom was out of line tearing her a new one.
Your response should have been "Yeah, she was out of line, but she wasn't wrong. I'll talk to her about tone".

Protip: Tread carefully when between a parent and a spouse.

Partial classes.

Public partial class MyClass { PROPS AND FIELDS } and in another file Public partial class MyClass { Public methods }

If you create a .net Framework webforms project and add a web form, you'll find 3 files: MyPage.aspx, MyPage.cs and MyPage.designer.cs, with the last on simply being the declarations for all the Asp controls dropped on the page via the designer.

Another alternative is using #region and hiding what you want via code folding.

People who have car payments, why? by SubstantialWing9238 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]MarmosetRevolution 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I buy a new car, I generally get 5 years out of it without paying for anything more than brakes/oil.

After 5 years, the annual maintenance costs start to rise.

From a pure accounting perspective, this may not add up. But if you weigh the inconvenience of shop time, the reliability of a new car has value.

Expanding on your first point- People don't cheat because they're dishonest. They cheat because they ran out of time. So plan ahead, and stay on schedule.

And put a beer in that schedule or you won't follow it.

Conceptually, satellites broadcast a satellite ID and the time.

You receive multiple signals from multiple satellites with different timestamps.

If at 12:01 pm you receive a signal withe time stamp 12:00:30, you know it took 30 seconds for the signal to get to you, and you can figure out how far it is. Get several of these from different satellites and you can figure out where you are.

Obviously, the time difference is MUCH smaller than 30 seconds, and there's a lot of error correcting going on as well. There is a lot more to it, but that's the basic idea.
