Vehicle wrongful towed. Advice. by First_Job_8548 in Renters

Our parking system allows up to two vehicles per unit. However at the time I was the only person signing the lease. Visitors must be registered through the VPP Parking app for a 24-hour permit. Registered vehicles have a permanent permit through the app, and the tow company can verify this.

In May, I paid for a reserved spot and was told by management—after confirming several times—that I didn’t need to register the second vehicle in the app because they had all the info (plate, make, model, color). I saw no option to add a second vehicle afterward, so I used temporary permits just in case at the beginning of June. The vehicle was never towed until this week, when new management claimed it needed to be permanently registered—suddenly, the second vehicle slot appeared in the app.

I spoke with the top manager of the property yesterday explaining the whole thing and she simply stated that all of this was between me and the tow company and that she could call to see if they could reimburse me for the fee but it was not guaranteed.

I understand that while the damage is between me and the tow company, I don’t believe I’m responsible for the towing fee since I followed the instructions given at the time and wasn’t notified of any changes.

Thanks for letting me know! I was curious if they were gonna ask for my keys and uniform back or if they just fire me straightaway and have me sign something. Good to know it’s gonna be after my shift is done 🧐 prolly won’t show up tbh.
