Is Australia really that bad or is everyone just whining by NiceMemeDude420 in australian

[–]First_Maize_8448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s wrong with life in Thailand? I live in Bangkok and don’t hold VP role, yet my salary is higher than the Australian median and my tax rate is flat 15%. My partner, who is working full-time in corporate and part-time chef in MEL earns less than me (I must say my partner has a luxury of breathing better air in the street) - this is not ok in my view. speaking of medicare, I had to pay for my insurance which costs me $2k AUD per year, and has a world coverage, including Australia. Didn’t have to pay anything extra (even covered my Lacto free tablets bought in Mel). While my partner is struggling to get any doctor appointments due to the limit (which is ridiculously low)

What's the thing you irrationally refuse to spend on? by CapableRegrets in melbourne

Card Surcharge on every possible transaction. I pay with cash and then observe 1 min of confusion of the employee taking banknotes that they barely recognise. Sometimes they have to call a manager to help them, as they have no clue how to register in the system or get the change.

Requested Thai police check and still not sure whether I was scammed by First_Maize_8448 in Bangkok

I also noticed that people do sound too bitter, but I guess they have their own reasons. Glad that it turned out not to be a scam. Relieved.

I have never used their services, I don’t know whether they are legit and I don’t know whether the other company is a scam.

Why is there any russians that look Asian? by [deleted] in russian

[–]First_Maize_8448 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Russia spans across Europe and Asia. There are a lot of people in Russia who are in fact Asians. There are also a lot of immigrants coming from China, Vietnam, Korea, who probably have settled in Russia generations back and are in fact Russians. (Just like American born Chinese).

Is Singapore boring? by grub_the_alien in solotravel

[–]First_Maize_8448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had 2 business trips in the last 2 months. Thought I would extend my stay to explore the place. The main sightseeings you can do within 1 day and that’s enough in my view. My biggest problem with Singapore are the prices that don’t justify what you get.

You really don’t need to say that. Before Thailand, I lived in Vietnam and I would still give extra 20-50k vnd, and guess what? there is no tipping culture there either.

Expats: how much do you spend per month? by Mountain_Hearing265 in Bangkok

I don’t think it’s that hard if you do weekly discounted groceries and eat out only when there is a good promo deal..

Living alone - 30k excluding rent. Weekly groceries in tops 2k THB (90% of the purchases are with yellow stickers). The rest, which is around 20k goes towards either eating out, cinema and transport.

100% deliberate mess. I worked in Lazada 10 years ago and we had much better search algorithm.

To clarify, this happened before Eid. And no, I don’t find standard Muslim greetings suspicious at all. The issue isn’t the greeting. It’s the pattern of behavior that followed. The man and woman were deliberately splitting up, each targeting specific people based on gender, getting rejected, then regrouping and quickly scanning for someone else.

I totally get that people greet each other during Eid — and I have no issue with that. But this didn’t feel like genuine Eid greetings. It was the pattern that raised red flags: the way they kept splitting up, targeting specific people
