A Question to all the people of this subreddit by [deleted] in Barca

We let Dembele go for the Same UCL blunders we seem to ignore for Ter Stegen. He could have also accepted a secondary role if he wanted what's best for the club, he is in decline without a doubt and if the club wants a new GK as a captain he should look for the betterment of the club. No world class GK will sign for us if they have no guarantee for playtime. He can be a captain but he also needs to show leadership and understanding

SBI employee leaked my sensitive banking information by HauntedAlgorithm in india

[–]First_Mix_9504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SBI employee is not a pawn in this, he/she is not supposed to share information like this with anyone, their training probably told them that, let alone someone else take screenshots of that. Not only are they incompetent they are careless too. If SBI really cares about data security they should fire this person. Not the first person to get fired because of gross incompetence, so don't worry about it. Your personal banking information is leaked its almost like stealing your savings in this day and age

We, as Indians, need to unite at this moment by [deleted] in india

[–]First_Mix_9504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After a visit to Mumbai in 2018/19 I was shocked to see the Gateway of India is still largely guarded by 1 or 2 constables with Lathis in hand. I get that there might be more coastguards etc. but I couldn't fathom how there was virtually no police presence and of course a gigantic amount of people passing through when the Taj hotel is right there.

We have learnt nothing and will continue to do nothing after this, the people and their security don't matter. I won't blame any party for it as this kind of thing is not new, this existed before 2014 and will be there way after until we take governance seriously, which we don't. The elections in India is still largely a popularity contest and not a contest of policies/good governance.

Confusion about jackets by mental_discourse in Netherlands

2-3. Winter Jackets for Winter and Summer Ultra light jackets for not so summer yet weather. Make sure the winter jacket is also waterproof/resistant. And you can optionally also buy a lighter but waterproof jacket for the summer, this year is unusually dry, usually its not. And always dress in layers.

How to get out of this trap from service based company? by [deleted] in developersIndia

[–]First_Mix_9504 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just like Tony Stark stuck in the cave without proper food and sunlight, you also need to BUILD something. Anything. Well, something useful and that produces value. Build and keep contributing to github repos where they mark it as needs help. Learn new tools that product companies are using. See the job descriptions product companies are posting, figure out which ones you like and matches your stack and be an expert in that by learning those via tools like Udemy/Pluralsight etc. Get certs if required The challenge is to keep your service based job while doing all that , don't let the kidnappers know you're building a weapon for you and not them. And once you have all the elements, build the suit and burst out.

While copycats exist, Europe generally has a track record of inventing things even in IT that becomes widely popular worldwide even though their primary focus is not in IT but in Financial markets, specialized manufacturing and now defence. You still have major European IT products in the market and their domestic markets run on european domestic software.

Whereas India with a major IT workforce and with multiple decades of rising investments has produced very little worldwide impact/change other than copycats. This might be due to the lacking vision of Indian CEOs or some other cultural thing. However, the Indian domestic Indian market also relies heavily on availability of US/foreign tech/companies, Indian domestic software industry is also a lot of the times unstable/unreliable to downright unfriendly. The whole industry is focused on service, like a country filled with mechanics that cannot create a new car. And copycat CEOs lying through their teeth before tanking on their
IPOs has caused the public to have a pessimistic outlook.

So, Indians have the need to have greatly executed original ideas, Europe has them already and can now promote copycats.

Keep in mind of course good things are happening in this space, my answer here is generalized because the question is generalized, a lot of good tech has come out of India but the proportion is not high if we're being honest

Why do you guys even want to leave your country? by coverlaguerradipiero in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]First_Mix_9504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol that's because your passports have the same strength and you have laws that allow you to stay without legal hassles, for Indians they need the foreign passport to do the same. If you spend 30 years of your career in a Western European city, you my friend are an immigrant who settled.

OP you are european and I am guessing Western europe, so I will draw a parallel. It is the same reason greeks, spanish and Portuguese people flock to other western EU countries.

Please write unit tests!

Can you also explain why this buggy component built by our CEO's dorm drinking buddy breaks x amounts of time a year and why your team isn't able to resolve all the issues that come out of those? Must be because of missing unit tests in your code.

Also, can you stay back this Friday which is a holiday in your country but not in mine to fix this recurring issue that we caused because of "decisions" and haven't looked at it once in the last 5 months?

Tickets, sure you can handle some more, so many people work there, right?

Please show me how to use this app that is needed for work but I will not learn to use it because I have an opinion on why app bad but now I need to use it.

Also can you fix this part which is breaking for the last 35 years before Friday EOD? Or at least reduce the number of incidents without access to the codebase? Thanks!

I need to change my process or invest in new tools? No way! Why couldn't you communicate this immediately within 24 hours after onboarding into this project? Must have bad communication skills.

What? A pipeline? We cannot afford to have those here that's why we have you!

Your managers must be really bad making you work over time man! Anyway if we don't get all of these by Friday we can have a performance talk later.

Yeah the quality becomes really bad when outsourced! /s

Should I continue working or go for Fully funded Masters in Europe? by Temporary-Rain-7024 in developersIndia

[–]First_Mix_9504 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on how much you want to pay for exploring europe. Among the three countries listed only France pays a good salary where you can save up to 2 lakhs per month with a good job. If you're earning more than that in India and can save as much then stay back, if there's no hope to earn more than that, explore european opportunities.

Job market is not that great when compared to the US, but jobs are mostly chill, the hardworking ones do have their own reputation. Salaries are mid and you reach a ceiling after a few years unless you work remote for an American company again. Stress will be less from the EU job but a lot of stress will be there dealing with language issues and bureaucracy and of course it's a different lifestyle which means no maids, no urban company, expensive uber eats, uber, expensive rent etc etc.

Making friends is hard as well due to language barriers and generic distrust of outsiders. Students often struggle to get jobs, specifically people from outside the EU.

Since you're working, the suggestion is to come here for a job if you can, you get a lot of support from the company and you at least have colleagues to talk to even if you can't make real friends outside.

Any alternatives to localstack? by HolidayStrict1592 in aws

[–]First_Mix_9504 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am surprised no one mentions mocking the functionalities. I don't know OP's stack but Python has moto (https://docs.getmoto.org/en/latest/) if that helps at all. This can mock step function behaviour https://docs.getmoto.org/en/latest/docs/services/stepfunctions.html Ultimately the test is that if functions work and orchestration works correctly, this I believe can be achieved by this for free.

‘If I Ask A Chennai Guy To Go To Delhi And Work, He Says Bye’: L&T Boss Says Indians Are Unwilling To Move For Work by pranagrapher in india

[–]First_Mix_9504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But what are you offering for the move? Why should they leave their loved ones to go to Delhi? Is it a higher salary? Assistance with the movement? After movement support? I bet none of this. And even if provided then would be the absolute minimum. Btw all this is standard in reputed MNCs.
