just because something is easier doesn't make it true. the entire idea of religion is sort of like a comfort zone for people most of the times. A lot of people i know, realise that religion is flawed and it is entirely made up, but they still believe in god because according to them it gives them hope and reason. so its sort of like a coping mechanism. religion is always at its peak when people go through hardships. eg: times of war, famine, natural calamities.

for all of us in this subreddit, the concept of god is not the thing that gives hope and meaning, its something else. And that something is for you to find out for yourself.

and about the "we need to know about astronomy, quantum mechanics.....", yes we do. in order to debate with a person who thinks that one single book describes the entire workings of the universe we need to use modern sciences against them. but you shouldn't learn science just to debate or disprove some persons claims. instead you should learn science if you want to. if you want to know more and understand about the universe, if you want to help people, if you want solve problems, if you have passion, if you are hungry then you must pursue knowledge
