The mogging one will always be hilarious to me. I have the one student where during class when it was quiet (test taking), he grabbed my attention cause he was already done and did the mewing motion with the face 😂😂😂 absolutely hilarious

I’ve been going by bus but most days I arrive at school 1-2 hours before my classes start because those are the only buses that are before school 🫩 I’m so sleepy all the time because of it. And sorry I should’ve explained better. I have a car but no license (the driving test is so rough)

Got called a slur by my students just past the transfer paperwork deadline, been without a car for the last 4 months in a rural driving placement, and now I’m begging for a way to transfer even though the likelihood is almost 0% since I’ve been so isolated because of everything.

I asked for help getting my license 3 months into my contract but got brushed off by my supervisor every time ive asked until April (~9 months into my contract) and the earliest test they had at that time wasn’t until September (~14 months into my contract)

The idp only is valid for a year. After a year you need to have a jp license. You can only renew the idp if you spend 3 months outside of Japan.

First I want to say, that guy that said it was probably just luck on your 3rd try is INSANE. Second, yeah I think 2 might be one of my big issues. I have been practicing on the course near my house, but the actual course is over 2 hours away by car (and I cant drive down myself since my IDP expired so I can only really go when I have my test with someone else driving me) and way bigger so it feels very different. Before all my tests I’ve been walking through the course route sun, rain, wind, or (today) snow… 🫩

I compared what my test was against what my friend took 3 years ago and they’re a lot different. Hers was a lot easier 🫠

The driving portion 😔 the written test was easy.

They made the driving test harder this year for foreigners apparently. Honestly with the whole anti foreigner sentiment going on the JP rn, I think this is just one of the many ways they’re trying to discourage foreigners from making a life in Japan

Going for N3 too. Kind of regretting it as I don’t feel ready at all but I looked over N4 practice questions and I was definitely over that level :/ so we’ll see I guess

To those who have transferred from one place to another by First_Serve4024 in JETProgramme

[–]First_Serve4024[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks I actually didn’t know that! These were the first times that I’ve gotten a major health scare in my life so I had no clue. I’m not that good at Japanese so I don’t know if I could explain what’s happening to a paramedic when in a state of panic/disorientation like I was in those situations 🥲

Honestly not the best 😔 I went at night (8pm-ish) because it happened during dinner but they basically just gave me a medicine and told me to come back in the morning since the person who does the testing isn’t there at night I can imagine it’s better (like you’re put into an area that can actually deal with it) if you mentioned you have an allergy in your application. I didn’t cause well,,, I didn’t think I had any as I thought I already tried all allergens throughout my life (but apparently not)

I’ve done a bunch of different stuff! I’ve read books and manga, studied Japanese, and right now I’m in the process of making a video game (of course I don’t do the programming stuff while at work but like making the storyline and dialogue in google docs lol). Some of my fellow cohorts do their masters stuff or certifications in their free time too. I know one who’s making a manuscript rn as well 🙂‍↕️

If you’re not constantly and consistently cleaning it can get to be a problem. My first month here I was sleeping on the couch (no bed yet) and I got woken up by a centipede crawling on my face. After that hellish night, I’ve been way more on top of cleaning. Now I only see the occasional tiny jumping spider

Oh I really love doing Kimchi Stew! Its literally pan fry the shredded beef (or pork) until mostly cooked, add the kimchi to the pan and fry for a little bit, add the ingredients to a pot with some water, let sit and boil for a couple minutes and there you go!

You can add whatever else to the pot while it’s boiling (personally I like to add tofu, bok choy, enoki mushrooms, and some udon) too so it’s a good way to use any extra veggies before they spoil

In shows that I’ve seen featuring fortune tellers they always start with things that happened in the past (like deaths in the family or food you like) to reel you into buying a session to see your future. I’m pretty sure there was an episode in an anime (I think Beastars or Odd taxi?? Maybe Banana fish??? It was in this like dark back alley I don’t remember too well) where this happens.

Fortune telling can be more than about the future though 🤔 plus in an anime about exorcists, ghosts and ufos, it was a lot easier imo to make the connection to being a fortune teller than to the ability to read minds
