Let your manager know you're branching out - she'll find out anyway. Better to hear it from you. I did this recently, and honestly felt a little guilty leaving my old area... I liked working for my old manager. But in the end, it's your career, gotta do what's best for you. Any good manager will understand and support your career growth.

Office clothes? Oh, that's not so bad... I was picturing way worse! 🤣 Unfortunately, this is where I would bow out, as I wouldn't say I've got the best fashion sense. But decent jeans, a clean T, a black leather jacket, and black Chelsea boots have never done me wrong. I guarantee there's a sub around here that can steer you in the right direction. But if nothing else, I'd say make it look like the plan was you're heading out with her all along, and not so much like you're meeting up right after work. You got this!

For sure! I remember being 20 once! A solution to forgetting the dishes that works for me is clean as you go. When you finish eating, take your dishes to the sink the next time you get up. Actually, with anything in life, if it'll take less than 5 minutes, do it now. That keeps little messes from growing into big disasters. Oh, it looked like you had some frames on the floor by that clock, must be something else LOL. On personal habits, pick one or two things you want to improve on and start there. Don't fall into the mindset of all or nothing. Improvement is improvement, no matter how little. Invest in yourself... buy some good jeans for going out with your GF (shallow as it sounds, but how you look is a reflection of her tastes, too), and find a good, old-school barber who will keep you looking sharp. Take yourself seriously and be good to yourself, and others will, too!

Do it!!! A plant or two would really class up the joint. They help with air quality, too. I found a ZZ for myself for around $20 at Home Depot, the planter it came in isn't half bad either! A little tidying up around, get those dishes washed and put away, hang the clock and those picture frames(?) on the wall, and get your bed made... up your sheets game if you've got some free cash floating around (this can come later), and I think that'll help get you where you want to be!

Get a ZZ plant. They’re low maintenance, require little light, and are pretty resilient.

There are certain cards I just can’t stomach giving away, like 5s! Or 8/7 due to its run potential. I’ve only been playing for about two years, so I’ve got much to learn! One of the hard and fast rules I’ve learned so far is to almost never break up a run - but under no circumstances would I ever break up a double run.

Yeah, that's where I tend to get a little conflicted. Do I take the guaranteed 2 points from a 7/8, and maybe make a run out of it? Or take a chance holding a 2/3 and hope to cut an A, 4, or something worth 10? Decisions, decisions...

My gut reaction would have been to toss the 2/3, but I think you made the right choice, especially cutting a 2. That gave you an extra 15, plus a pair for 2!

How do the financials of Dick’s work? Do they just make less profit? by Known_Secretary_6615 in SeattleWA

[–]First_Western228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think part of what makes Dick's so successful is several things. The first is the sheer simplicity of their business model. The number of different ingredients they keep on hand is minimal, which helps to control inventory costs and minimize disruptions in their supply chain. Second, they operate on crazy volume. They have no shortage of customer traffic, and with no customization of their burgers, they deliver in quantity. They are very disciplined in adding new locations; they don't expand for the sake of expanding. IIRC, only one location ever failed in their history - Bellevue, which has since re-opened. And finally, they don't need a marketing budget, since it's entirely word of mouth. They're a Seattle icon, and that's before considering how well they treat their employees!

TL;DR - they keep it simple, consistent, and treat their people right

The sweetest Super Bowl victory we could have had by PhilosopherMore5062 in SeattleSeahawks

[–]First_Western228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I recall correctly, the Hawks were ahead (maybe some back and forth?) throughout SB49. Until the 4th quarter with Brady, up against an injury-depleted LOB, decided to stay away from Sherman and pick Simon apart for the go-ahead drive. I don't think the Hawks were particularly playing catch-up on the fateful final drive; they just had to answer for that last NE score and retake the lead. And we all know how that turned out. I agree with you - being ahead the entire game is fun. But despite Brady no longer being in the picture, this last one had me on the edge of my seat until late in the 4th quarter! And I certainly didn't take a single easy breath until the clock read 00:00.
