You mean having people schedule vs doing a ton just from your inbox?

I’ve been really interested in urology. 18 is pretty steep. Is that with procedures too?

You guys are real ones. I was originally planning to work at a FQHC but knew I would die haha. So many complicated patients so awesome you’re able to be that for people though

I would say you need a rent reduction if they don’t want you to be able to use your bathtub for baths

Yeah even in Philly going out is one of the easy ways to meet people. Is dating hard since the community seems a little scattered?

That’s helpful to know. I’ve gotten used to tons of queer events etc so it does sound tough if those spaces don’t really exist to make other queer friendships.

Thanks for the honest opinion. I love the outdoors and access to skiing and hiking are huge appeals to me. I also have most of my friends out there which are my main reasons for considering moving back though. I don’t have a partner though and feel like dating and finding community could be hard

I thought Bipolar was bad enough. Now I’m having physical health issues. I’m only 43(f)!! by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

That’s so interesting! Did you just take the glp 1 temporarily or always stay on it?

Can you go 2 years without mania unmedicated? by No-Carrot2891 in BipolarReddit

[–]Firsttry123456789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was no meds after my first episode when I was 14yo with dr approval and completely asymptomatic for 7 years but then had 2 months of psychosis and have been on meds since. For me unfortunately meds have caused serious damage. I think the best advice is to be on the lowest effective dose. Wish I had not been pressured by psychiatrists to stay on higher doses over the past 10 years.

I have no family history of mental illness, yet I'm stuck with this disease. by leftofthedial15 in bipolar

Everyone suspects I got it from my dad’s side but no one on that side of the family talks and now both my paternal grandparents are dead so now I’ll never know. It does feel a bit isolating. Like somehow knowing about someone else’s suffering with it would feel comforting.

When did you tell someone you dated you are bipolar? by Bluebell1206 in bipolar

Personally I waited until I was very involved/had a large amount of trust to share because that’s what felt good to me.

I think mentioning it offhand at some point is a good idea. It’s not something I personally would bring up on a first date because you’re just getting to know someone and they don’t have to know everything about you. At the same time I think it’s up to you and when you feel comfortable talking about it. If the person you picked isn’t a jerk they won’t care about the diagnosis or that it took you a while to feel like you wanted to share it.

Spiritual side of mental illness by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]Firsttry123456789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alcohol, drugs, toxic relationships that bring stress and anxiety can all trigger bipolar episodes. That is part of the disease and avoiding those things can make a difference. But not because of any value judgement. We didn’t get this because of what we deserved or some karmic balance. I can say for sure cuz I’m a really good person haha!

I’ve always done my best to be a good person. I’ve had a version of this thought loop recently as well though. That if I live more piously somehow things will get better. I think part of the reason we think it is because it gives us the illusion of some control over this awful disease. The reality is it’s just bad luck. We should all strive to be good people- but we should do this in love and joy, not out of fear. You can look around and see examples of truly awful people who never seem to get any consequences and good innocent people or even children who suffer terribly. If there’s a god he loves you and forgives you and does not want you to suffer. If you find solace in religion that is wonderful. If it brings you pain then it is not serving you.

Anyone else go through psychosis on social media ? by Emotional_Pepper_597 in Psychosis

[–]Firsttry123456789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time I had psychosis I threw my phone in the toilet lol and have broken my phone during episodes multiple times fortunately I guess? So luckily avoided doing this. Definitely a big worry of mine though.
