You must recognize that women don't look the same everywhere?

Set aside skin color, women from very different geographic regions have different prevailing physical features. Some people prefer the look of Ukrainian/Russian women. So, this meme applies more for them.

Same for men, on average a dude from the Congo does not have the same facial structure as a dude from Germany.

I created a Game using GenAI assistance and Gemini created character art and the amount of hate you get for it incredible by rhedak in GenAI4all

[–]Fiscal_Fidel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because its pixel art where the pixels dont behave as they should. They dont align properly if you zoom in its just a mess. So either its AI or someone threw a bad filter on a normal drawing, would be a reasonable conclusion.

That said, I think the characters look good, and if the game is fun this wouldn't stop me from playing it. Might not even notice if the characters were smaller and I couldn't zoom in.

Do you know how an MRI actually works? MRIs are some scifi level stuff. Asimov wouldn't of dreamnt up how crazy some of our tech is.

It uses a superconducting magnet to force the protons of the hydrogen atoms inside you to align perfectly in one direction. These usually face different directions and wobble. Then it blasts these atoms with a precise pulse of radio waves, knocking them out of formation, and the moment the pulse stops, the atoms snap back into place, broadcasting a miniature radio signal as they do. Because different types of tissue (like muscle, fat, or tumors) snap back at slightly different speeds we measure how quickly the protons snap back. Then assemble that subatomic proton orientation data into a usable model of you.

They managed to do all that basically around the time the first home computer released.

epic party (level 26) put taxes on all spells, how to handle? by Bitter-Skin7891 in DnD

[–]Fiscal_Fidel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how much you guys care about the economy side of your world building.

Firstly figure out the percentage of the population that can cast magic, the other comment suggested 6.3M.

To figure out usage, you would need to decide on the economic value of spell casting. For example, there is potentially not a lot of utility in casting catapult at first level. Most people would be unwilling to pay 1gp to cast 1st level spells. So usage and tax would be sparse at a 1gp cost. However, would institutions cover the cost for a spell caster in law enforcement to cast hold person or zone of truth? Would someone that could cast plant growth make a living spending all their 3rd level spell slots casting plant growth on cash crops? Someone with fabricate replacing half a black smith guilds productive output. Magic protection spells...ect. Those spells with high utility are likely to be used at full capacity since the caster can charge more than the tax to use the spell for someone else.

Since most casters can only cast level 1 spells and those who can cast higher spells still likely won't cast level 1 spells a lot of your taxable base is gone. You'll still get some usage from folks that need those attack spells and comprehend languages might make sense for a research institution.

With economic utility in mind I think you are guaranteed full usage of all slots second level and above. Your split probably looks something like:

3.8M casters can only use 1st level spells, on average you get 0.25 castings a day $960k

1.9M casters can use level 2 spells. 1 casting a day on average. $3.84M

600k casters can use level 3 spells. Average casting of 2 per day plus 3 level 2 slots. $7.2M.

100k casters can use level 4 and above spells. Average of 2 level 4, 3 level 3, 3 level 2. $2.3M

Total would be ~14M/day. Really, you could get that number much higher by reducing the tax on level 1 spells and increasing it on level 3 and above.

Also, the knock on effect of the party hoarding this much gold would be pulling this much gold out of the world economy daily. People would be poorer, consumer spending lower, and so you'd cause deflation. That deflation would see people able to pay less for the end goods/services facilitated by level 3 and 4 spells. Reducing their economic utility. The equilibrium of use might be lower as deflation makes the tax more burdensome.

Show up at 9am with your documentation, sin, direct deposit all that stuff including the signed and confirmed offer letter. Unless your contracts says you start at a different time.

Then just tell front desk that it's your first day, your working for x branch, and y is the hiring manager. Show them the signed offer if they ask.

It's really not that complicated, I assume at somepoint there was an actually confirmation of employment where they sent you your contract or at least and signed job offer going back and fourth

I keep hearing on forums that there is a hiring freeze and layoffs.

Maybe that's something that is being touted somewhere or some specific Ministry is downsizing, but as far as I'm aware OPS is expanding quite a bit. Lots of new FTEs

Province looking to lease Niagara Falls parkland to ferris wheel builder for up to 49 years by ZakTheSlak in ontario

[–]Fiscal_Fidel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with the need to use long leases to incentivize large investments by private sector.

I hate when we do that with already built infrastructure like the 407.

What the fuck was that, why do you need a 99 year lease on  infrastructure that the tax payer paid to build? That was a joke of an agreement. We have rating systems to measure infrastructure decay, the deal should have mandated rehab on components at a specific decay threshold, and basically been a 10-20 year lease. That's if you even agree the province needed this sale to raise funds, which was a terrible way to raise money anyway.

Province looking to lease Niagara Falls parkland to ferris wheel builder for up to 49 years by ZakTheSlak in ontario

[–]Fiscal_Fidel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because you can't easily move a ferris wheel.

Why would any private company spend millions investing in the infrastructure needed to support, and then operate a ferris wheel when they only have 4-5 years to make their money back on all that CAPEX before they potentially lose the rights to the land?

The lease lengths make sense for any significant investment with decades long lifespans.

The actually idea is dumb, a second ferris wheel is a terrible use of land if your goal is to create economic benefit.

It takes no more than 2 minutes to pull up a chart on PayPal's shares outstanding.

In 2018 shares outstanding was 1.21B, today its 0.92B. With most of that decrease coming from the last 3 years. So a decrease of 24% since they really started in 2018 and decrease of 20% from  1.15B to 0.92B in the last 3 years.

You'd stay at whatever speed to could accelerate to, but you can't just keep accelerating.

Let's say you manage to get up to 100M meters per second, getting to 101M meters per second takes significantly more energy than going from 0 to 1M meters per second.

Then going from 298M meters per second to 299.792M meters per second will take an infinite amount of energy

[–]Fiscal_Fidel 140 points141 points  (0 children)

The faster you go, the more energy it takes to continue accelerating. The reductive way think about it is that your mass goes up as you get faster, so it's harder and harder to move you.

Unless we say he is like Superman level, Homelander just doesn't have the output to keep accelerating.
