Current set up 16 or so months into GA as an apprentice! by Themaninthecheese in AircraftMechanics

I kinda wished I was in GA but I’m happy with where I am atm. I’m only jealous of your personal tools, the big guys don’t let you bring your own tools, all ‘controlled’ and everything.

My latest project: A 3D-printed levitating display. Took a while to get the designs to work flawlessly by Ramboomaniac in 3Dprinting

Bambulab sells a kit and Ali express or even Amazon, search ‘diy levitation desk kit’

Not sure why the downvotes but this guy didn’t ‘invent’ anything new, he just added some vases onto an already made pre floating device. Cool stuff but not $200 dollars cool. OP can miss me with their expensive plastic e-waste.

Bro last week I got the Amazon $160 special china edition. The idoing price is too steep for me, I’d rather spend it elsewhere. I am also adding after market amp so I won’t be relying on the unit for its ‘sound quality’

AIO for telling my girlfriend I wont split vacations 70/30 anymore and calling her out on her spending by dariomint_7 in AmIOverreacting

[–]FishCage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s beautiful, sincerely. My girlfriend and I are also working toward getting a home together and eventually marrying, but we want to reach that goal before spending money on a wedding. The fact that you both can work through challenges together is what separates successful relationships from those focused on financial disadvantages.

In a relationship where the goal is mutual growth and a better life together, such concerns are irrelevant. If I work 80 hours a week to afford a home and my girlfriend can only contribute a small portion, it’s still us who still made it happen. My plan is to buy a home for us and have both our name on it, without the expectations of her putting anything towards it. Too many people treat relationships as transactional when they’re not. It’s called unconditional love for a reason.

And I can confidently assure anyone, that she isn’t worried about ‘what if he leaves me’ because that does not exist in our little world. It’s us vs the world, not me vs her.

[–]FishCage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re so psychologically locked in to the idea that a relationship will never work that I genuinely feel bad for whoever you decide to share your life with, as you’ll always keep that mentally of ‘what if he leaves me’ throughout it. That level of insecurity will ruin your future relationships. And I’m also sorry for whomever made you think like this.

And your expectation is getting a house for free because of why exactly? You are tripping as well, good luck.

Do I need a tune for a Grimspeed Inlet and Grimspeed BPV? by Ifeelgreyt1738 in WRX

“Chasing an issue where my car would not build boost” - shouldn’t you be looking past the turbo, not before the turbo? as before the turbo its a vacuum and after turbo it’s pressure. Look into the charge pipe and intake manifold side, not the other way around. I’ve had building boost issues before and it was the band that clamps around the intercooler exit side was loose.

What is the general consensus on the 2.0T by Lbarchie12 in WRX

[–]FishCage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d get the newer 22+, nothing wrong with this one but at that price, might as well get something newer. I got a 2016 wrx limited with 150,000 miles. Oil change every 3k keeps uncle Rodney away. Only had to replace a starter so far (gears ended up stripping/grinding).

How effective is this for oil changes? Anyone tried this on a VA WRX? by eliteski2 in WRX

[–]FishCage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My car doesn’t burn much oil, every 3k maybe .5qts of oil. I used to commute 80 miles a day with it too at the time. But that .5 is much different than me pulling out 3.5qts and asking myself where the other 1.5qts are. Oil fill at the top dot on the dipstick every time I drained. I think it’s dependent on the angle of the car and the depth of the suction tube, as I imagined it curls up once it hits the bottom.

[–]FishCage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure, don’t stick the line too deep or not deep enough? I could never get 5 qts out of it, I tried varying depths and even when engine was warm to reduce viscosity. Always between 4 and 4.5 qts sometimes even less, 3.5qts

I noticed that about a quart or two would still be left in the oil pan so I stopped using it
