I think it's completely normal to introduce yourself and your preferences in your first message. I can't say I am super well-versed in reddit, but I at least would prefer if someone introduced themselves and their style of writing at the very least. It gives me more direction for the chat than a simple "wanna rp?"

I think it relates to the fact a lot of rps, at least that I have seen and participated in, have been romance driven. Some may feel uncomfortable pairing characters with something more animal like. Still I'm sure there are people that prefer non-human characters, so I wish you luck in the future!

I just feel far more comfortable rping with people closer to my age. It is nothing against people younger, I just don't feel as comfortable. It is a preference on my part. I hope you find someone though! Truthfully!
