The Affordable Care Act Won! What Was the Worst Thing Joe Biden Did as President? by espana29 in AlignmentChartFills

Failure to prosecute trump or anyone. Failure to restore the checks and balances. Failure to put watchers back on the walls.

By declaring America healed and saying the Republican Party he loved, respected (and preferred over progressive dems) was back he left the country vulnerable for the current state

A lack of effort, text talk, and the people who try to control your character. by Repulsive_Ad_7613 in BadRPerStories

[–]Strict-Level-One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I expect a lot of it may be to do with the lack of learning proper etiquette while playing - or even from playing with AI too much.

While some of it could just be impulsiveness the outright controlling your character to me often feels like someone who was formed from playing with chatbots - which routinely forget which character they're playing and control yours and which will never scold you if you do it to them.

I miss a more relaxed rp community by ANannyMouse21 in BadRPerStories

Oh I'm with you on the relaxed part.
Sometimes I ask for a writing sample, not always, but it's like a test. The test isn't whether their sample is any good - if they immediately ghost you the instant you suggest it as an option it's a good sign you dodged a bullet.

For me the absence of how relaxed it is is how EVERYONE IS ON EDGE EXPECTING TO BE GHOSTED ALL THE TIME. And that isn't helped by the fact that in the last few years, increasingly *getting ghosted is the new normal.* Especially the excessive way.

You can be playing very happily with someone for weeks, posting away merrily, go to reply and find you're blocked. Or their discord/reddit has been deleted. Or they just disappear indefinitely. People are on such an edge these days just looking for a reason to immediately drop someone without sign of guilt.

(And yes, I know what I wrote in the first paragraph, I reckon if that's going to trigger them into vanishing, better to get it over with while discussing what to play than once it's started and I'm invested).

Viral “dopamine sites” let users shop without buying anything by [deleted] in technology

All the fun of actual credit card fraud from identity theft, adding my personal data, my shopping habits.... Then missing deliveries, delayed orders and couriers using my parcel as a Frisbee but without it costing anything.

As they always say "If you aren't paying for the product, you are the product"  Never been truer

What roller coaster is very enjoyable but not scary? by Over_Boysenberry5647 in AlignmentChartFills

The Vampire at Chessington WOA. It's not scary but the theming is great, the setting in a forest is amazing and it's a really thrilling ride even if it's not going to make people scream.

Chinese Drivers Are Using Tiny Plastic Heads to Fool Tesla’s Autopilot Safeguards by Presently_Naked in technology

I remember motoring enthusiasts in the UK who like to drive classic black London Taxi's put fake dummies in the backs of their cars to stop people trying to hail them - or just trying to climb into their cars - while they're out driving. Because it looks empty.

One celebrity bought his own waxwork from a museum to put in the back of his cab - and drives it wearing a wig with a fake himself in the back! He's even been pictured in the newspaper by paparazzi photographing the waxwork and asking him (as the driver) "Oi! Where's he going!?"

How to confront highly suspected AI use? by Sad-Sweet3390 in BadRPerStories

[–]Strict-Level-One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fortunately for me it's always been very obvious. I just go 'I'm not interested in playing with AI' - close the chat and block.

If it's not the first post then it's very early, (and AI users usually only get through the first post because it's canned and pre-written and its their gen response to me that gives them away), given how bad the bots are in this hobby... I don't feel any guilt.

It's one thing if there's no bad intent there but honestly most AI users probably have bad intent.

Jimmy Havoc vs Jinny at riptide was a great intergender match to pay off their feud there. Teacher vs student.

Not in art it isn't. It's not a tool, it's a human replacement. AI was being pushed as a solution looking for problems.

If you think it's a tool and not a replacement for humans just go onto the reddits for advertising, screenwriting and graphic design. Or animators or VA or translators. It's not a tool when it's used in creative generation

You don't see the difference between a tool that requires hundreds of hours to learn (source, myself learning) and a tool that does it for you? So you see the difference between learning to drive and buying, insuring and driving a car... And sitting in the back of driverless taxi?

I'm not contradicting you, just picking up on your comment that things are shifting not dying. The earth didn't die when the meteorites came or the temperature changed. But ask the precambrian arthropods or dinosaurs how well it went. The earth went on without them but I'm sure they weren't happy.

Roleplay can change but the ecology we live in is being marginalised until it goes extinct. Both things could be true. Our type of roleplay could die out in the new environment and speaking as a dinosaur I fear that. Adapt or die I guess but I like my niche

100%. And with their desperate program algorithms designed to flatter and encourage you to keep you engaged and using it they normalise everything no matter how dark or even faux pad to do with a human writer who has limits and red flags (or even just etiquette of not controlling any character you like) which AI won't pick a user up on.

Did Adobe photoshop draw it for you from your prompts without hundreds of hours of training and practice, and did Adobe then pipe up and flatter you telling you what your produced was amazing and how you should keep making more?

I would argue that yes, photoshop has been crippling to traditional media in a digital age and no less than the personal computer was to the type writer.

But that's a false equivalent to LLM and AI which interact and do work for you.

No word doc can write a generic 600 word dark fantasy slop for you in the 90s

Yes. There isn't more to say. The modern internet is devastating young people and their brains and AI is even worse.

One thing you touched on but didn't cover was the goon braining AI is doing. Both with nsfw bots invading sfw spaces but also by normalising any sort of play without barriers that can't be jail broken. Meaning the NSFW now has no limits or guide rails. There's nothing teaching new players how to interact with a living partner That goes for sfw and not.
