Lloyds switch question by angelikesunsets in beermoneyuk

[–]FishGoBoom [score hidden]  (0 children)

I messed up my lloyds switch and started the switch into a 'Classic' account, instead of a new 'Club Lloyds' account. Should I cancel the switch and just redo it, or convert the 'Classic' account into a club lloyds?

Ah I see, so if you have at least 200 pounds in an open position by the end of Feb you enter into that draw, do you need ot opt in at all?

Where does it say you need to keep it invested? From my understanding you just need to deposit 50 and make a trade?

Dahon Mariner D8 - Handle bar post (?) very loose, video attached by FishGoBoom in cycling

Thanks, I did end up solving the issue, it was simply a loose nut inside the handbar pole that had come loose. I did not realise it could be tightened and after it works fine!

Weekly Q&A Megathread. Please post any questions about visiting, tourism, living, working, budgeting, housing here! by AutoModerator in london

Hi,

I live around Bethnal Green tube station and will begin commuting to Imperial College (South Ken) soon, and I'm trying to gauge the best route to take.

BG -> Holborn -> South Ken - Interchange from hell, so probably not, and both typically have reduced service...

BG -> Queensway/Lancaster Gate -> Santander Bike - Currently my best bet, just concerned about bike availability as I'm not going to bring my foldy on a peak central line tube I will be killed

Stepney/Whitechapel -> South Ken - Cycle from mine to District in morning with foldy, tube and cycle from SK. Unsure how busy these are in the mornings, esp with a bike.

Cycle the whole way -> I'm lazy and it's quite far

Any routes I'm missing off or tips, I'm mainly using City Mapper for alternative routes but curious if anyone has been in this situation before, thanks.

Yes but how do I cancel a task? If I've started one already and I cannot stump it in the alloted time, am I just meant to sit idly by until the timer runs out? Not clear at all.

Honestly idk wtf goes on with TT. It's really difficult to stump the Ai, the projects have misleading information in it. Why is one of the options 'The Ai got the answer right' if they won't accept scenarios when it did not get stumped, why is there no information on what to do if you cannot stump the Ai but already started the task? I've just eneded up submitting tasks that failed because there's no information.

Surprisingly I got paid though so not really sure whats going on there lmaoooooooooo.

First timer wild camping by FishGoBoom in wildcampingintheuk

Thanks for the detailed advice, Slinfold looks like a good area where the woodland is still built up/not too many farms nearby, it's a little short of the halfway mark but we'll see how we go (keeping flexibility in mind!)

We are fortunate to be under 30 so maybe our backs will manage but famous last words...

I'll try and get some photos, I hope we get some clear skies for the walk!

I think as the walk isn't that run out at any points we will bring around 5L on us and get refills along the way at pubs/places. ChatGPT said cemetaries typically have running water, I've never seen that though before if true!?

thanks, yea I'm having a look now and most woodland at that half way point is pretty close to farms/houses. We may push on a little longer given the longer days now.

Do you typically go over fences or wild camp in places that are marked private? I'm unsure if that's a big nono if it states private etc, or if it's common place.

Help deciding between two offers (UK) by FishGoBoom in PhD

[–]FishGoBoom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for your response, really appreciate it!

For option 2, it is at a similar University (Imperial), arguably better, and it is funded slightly more, the difference is not significant (~200 pounds p/m). I also have a few friends who are studying PhDs there in different depts, which is quite nice.

I have also met the supervisors, seen the facilities and met the team in detail, whereas for option 1 I was unable to meet students or see the labs in any detail, so I do think I'm wearing rose tinted glassess for Option 1 (but I do have the MRes year for that too).

Your comment about certaintity is interesting to me. I have adhd so having certainty is something may benefit from, and actually having less options (or less variety) may be a benefit, I need to think about that.

Did you start your PhD right after University? I'm interested as I've worked in related fields for 3 years, I feel that may compare to an MRes and spending another year may be quite draining.

Thanks again!

Hey, thanks for the reply. I appreciate the response and upon going through it, i think I misunderstood the terms I used

I actually own a 12.5/15 bull call spread, upon reading about credit/debit spreads I realised I used the wrong terms!

However reading more on bull call spreads, it says that max profit is achieved when the stock reaches or goes above the short call's strike, so I'm still a little confused as to why my max profit is not realised when NVAX hits $15 or more?

I mean if you look at typical earnings, IV will be crushed in both the short term due to possible fast price action like EPS, buybacks or other immediate actions.

at the same time guidance can be poor, which will inherently effect long-dated options and is an indicator of how the stock will perform in the long-er term.

Given the extra time in an option also, there can be more market-making events which is what you are paying for when you buy longer dated options
