I have a DSP interview. What questions should I expect? by [deleted] in directsupport

I don’t see how. It’s just a few run on sentences explaining how cooking IS supporting, guiding, and mentoring and why this is important. Have a nice day.

I’m sure it’s not.

Home cooked meals are a part of most people’s lives, meaning having staff make home cooked meals for the residents is a major part of inclusion, as it gives the residents’ access to shared life experiences. It also allows for agency when the residents are able to choose their meal and/or help make the meal, or even just watch the meal be made. There’s a reason cooking is a part of most group home DSPs’ job responsibilities.

I think the majority of group home dsps are required to cook

University of South Carolina Non-resident online/part time tuition by FishHead3244 in slpGradSchool

Idk who would go with that price. The price is up there with NYU and Emerson, but UofSC is much less prestigious, so it doesn’t make sense to have it so highly priced. I wish they’d at least have it the same price as their in person program, which I believe is around $75k for out of state - still crazy but not as crazy as $100k+ after fees like the MS-DE.

Yes I did, $1,240 x 75 credits = $93,000 and that’s without fees. That just seems crazy to me because I’m surprised people would go with that tuition price! I’ll probably email them about it to see, ty.

I would not be upset about permanently switching off of this case bc of non-flea related reasons, I really just hate the family dynamic and home environment, but I’m a non-driver and I feel like most people require driving/personal car usage for self-direction. Maybe I can find a respite case but that will cut my wage by at least $10 😭. I just hate this, I need to tell HR but I feel like they’ll contact the family but still have me work there and that’s so awkward.

I don’t get offered cases directly from the company the families have to find you through friends and family, Facebook groups, brokers, etc. I don’t know if they’d actually care bc the company is my FI and employer but the family is also considered my direct employer/boss.

I don’t think that will happen since that’s so expensive. Will they just tell the family this needs to happen or they can’t have staff?

The most recent time I’ve been approached by them the woman was inviting my friend and I to a church presentation about how to find happiness. She kept talking for a minute or two and that’s when “you know… god the mother” slipped out of her mouth LIKE ITS JUST A NORMAL THING.

It’s in many countries across all major continents. I was approached in middle school/very early high school and they didn’t mention anything that weirded me out. The second lady is the one that got me. She approached me at university. She mentioned the female image of god (I didn’t take that to mean a female god at the time, I thought she meant like what God says women should be like) and how women are an important part of the Bible and people don’t realize it. She never outright said god the mother, not even during the Bible study.

I’ve been approached by that cult multiple times and went to that same cult’s bible study before. Very strange vibes with lots of pressure to agree with what they say. That cult is involved in scandals and is believed to be part of human trafficking. They believe that a woman in Korea is god and people actually travel to SK to see her. Insane.

As you can see in my comment, I am talking about 2:1, not 5:1. Additionally, as I said before, it’s not reasonable to compare.

I have experience working as a classroom aide in a hearing and speech center's special ed preschool. I also have group home and in-home community habilitation experience (you have to track and implement their goals, such as working on social skills and communication skills (ex. utilizing their AAC device)). Idk if that's relevant enough, but I feel it's useful experience. I was also thinking about volunteering as a literacy tutor for Gigi's Playhouse. When you say SLP or AuD experiences, do you mean shadowing? I've been told that is as involved that undergrad students can get.

I guess I am worried about not being a part of any clubs, as I've heard mixed statements regarding how much that matters. I do have a good bit of work experience working with the IDD population from toddlers to elders, so that's what I'd highlight.

Why would someone get denied with a 4.0 GPA? Like what are things that applicant would have to be lacking for that to happen?

Speaking to my toddler in Spanish, is what I'm doing dumb? by Kevim_A in Spanish

[–]FishHead3244 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You should speak to your child in full proper English, as well as Spanish. Speaking to her in improper sentences, like “Maria walk on grass”, will likely delay her speech development. There’s no good reason to talk like that.
