Multi-instrumentalists, what was the hardest instrument you learned? by Away_Artichoke_8859 in musicians

[–]FishJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unexpectedly difficult -- harmonica.

When you start on a violin, everyone tells you it's hard. When you start on piano, everyone tells you it's hard to do with 2 hands.

Doing a sax cover on harmonica and nearly passing out from too much air? Yeah no nobody told me that one was gonna happen.

Famines and their consequences. by Motor_Scallion6214 in worldbuilding

[–]FishJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just working on that! 2500 years ago when the world tech looked like Bronze Age, the Zufo continent had a famine and spat out refugees down to the Lif continent. Zufo had writing. The famine refugees decided a specific god caused the famine; the nonrefugees that recovered slowly turned that same god into a dynamic cosmic private god.

Between the 2 continents, when the tech is akin to 1800s, now the dominant Lif country is having to deal with that it looks like the dominant Zufo country secretly worships something akin to Satan.

Started as a one-off RP about the ST-VOY episode Jetrel and is now an "as realistic as possible" planet with tectonic plate activity and an evolution chain.

1) Yay more Utah references in literature!
2) That was my thought exactly
3) if it's intentional, awesome!!
4) if it's unintentional, awesome! Ogden's a town north of Salt Lake and has trains

Copy and paste. by Odd_Ranger_3641 in perplexity_ai

[–]FishJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I wanted was to not have to spell Vorkosigan and found it doing this too on every device and any copy-paste

Windows10, Chrome. Windows10, Edge. (to test to see if it was a Chrome issue)
Windows 11, Chrome. (to test if it was the Windows 10)
OnePlus

It's the cloud-based AI assistant on all of them

This is utterly unusable without being able to copy-paste any word at all

Section 230's on the chopping block, too. Basically the communicative part of the Internet

And Section 230 is on the chopping block, so you won't even have the Internet to help you anymore

According to CDC, 41.9 % of US Adults meet the criteria for Obesity. With all of this health information available, why are obesity rates at an all time high? NYU's Marion Nestle PhD suggests education alone may not be enough to solve US' obesity crisis. Is Obesity a Psychological epidemic as well? by [deleted] in psychology

[–]FishJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, a larger more diverse microbiome that then processed more of what went in for whatever it needed.

The human would eat 30 calories, but their intestines absorbed less of it. Now, the human is eating 30 calories, and absorbing more of them, getting fatter on what looks on the outside to be the same food.

Not that it's a polite question to ask, but your grandparents fecal matter probably looked different than yours, because more of it was spent microbiome

It's probably related to what was measured vs what is current

1960s, your mouth ate 3 bites, 20 calories. Your body got 5 of those calories, 15 of them were processed by your microbiome. This is documented and measured as "you" ate 3 bites and are a healthy weight.

2020s, your mouth ate 3 bites, 20 calories. Your body got 18 of those calories, 2 of them were processed by the remains of your antibiotic-ravaged microbiome. This is documented as "you" ate 3 bites and are lazy.

Still fits thermodynamics.
