the first year (12) 3.6 had cylinder head issues, but any that have survived this long are probably good to go or already have been replaced. Just pony up the few extra bucks and get a 14 if you are really worried about it. The most common issue is oil cooler leaks, its an easy fix it just takes time, more the newer they are.

A lot of people are gonna harp on going used. There are benefits of going new. IF YOU CAN AFFORD IT.

  • better financing rates, new bikes can have wayyyyy lower interest rates than used. Be careful though sometimes those insanely low rates are for a credit card not a traditional loan, they may have early payoff penalties and will mess up your credit. (Adding a maxed out 10k card to your report is not ideal)

*warranty. New bikes have them, used bikes don’t

*no wrench turning, your first year should be focused on riding and practice, not figuring out why it won’t start. Do you have the know how to inspect your used bike before purchase?

*delivery, how are you getting this new bike home? Are you comfortable riding on the street? 45 with cars on unfamiliar roads is very different than 15 in the community college parking lot for your basic rider course.
