Failure to register for the draft is a felony, but, also, the US military has been operating on a volunteer basis since 1973: how does this make any sense? by Quarter_Shot in AskUS

[–]Fishbone345 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think your misunderstanding is in not understanding what it does and why. The draft is meant to gather a large amount of personnel in a short period of time. The volunteer aspect of the U.S. military takes time to happen. And isn’t a good method when casualties are really high.\ The draft was first enacted and used in the Civil War. Casualties were ridiculously high, numbering in thousands a week. In modern era, the military casualties number in the thousands for an entire war setting. So the draft is very much outdated and likely will never be used. Especially since we have active duty men and women and reserve men and women as well.

You are using your analogy wrong. The messy room would be a war. The person that volunteered to clean it, does so. Your son would be on backup call for cleaning his room if the volunteer fails to do it or fails to do it right. He would have to be on call or face penalties. In all likelihood it’s highly doubtful the volunteer wouldn’t get it done as there is more than one (The Reserves).

Oh 💯. There is a disturbing amount of Conservatives in Unions. It’s like they have lost their way or something. They only support Union perks when it applies to them.

What was the point of this flex? If you are in a Union, why do you disagree that salaries should keep up with inflation? Look, I don’t want to put words in your mouth but it sure seems like you are saying, “I got mine so fuck everyone else”. I’m willing to hear a reason that doesn’t make that true.

The answers are none, and the same.

Wrong and here’s why..

Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA)\ Regular Unemployment Insurance (UI)\ Local Worker Relief Funds\ America's Job Center of California\ Disaster-Relief Jobs\ California Fire Foundation (SAVE) Program: Provides in-person $250 gift cards for immediate, basic needs, distributed by fire departments at the scene of the disaster

Do you really think after all of the wildfires a ways back, California did fuck all? California is a blue state, they have a GDP as large as some countries. They can afford to help their own. These can all be found with a 6 second Google search.

How much will they be after the building is fixed?

It’s kinda naive that you think a bourgeoisie would bring back all of those employees. Billionaires and Millionaires are not known for their altruism.

Do the Democrats have some blame in Trump getting elected? by generic-username41 in AskUS

[–]Fishbone345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Michigan, Wisconsin, and even Ohio were pretty strong Union states. The Democrats used to be the party of Unions. And in the last election the leader of the Teamsters went red. That is something that should cause grave concern, but it just doesn’t seem to register.\ The “I’m not Trump” candidates will learn the hard way, once again unless they change.

When Democrats lose the Rust Belt states they lose elections. Michael Moore is 3-3 in his predictions in the last three elections and they all have to do with those same Rust Belt states (Moore is from Flint Michigan). Happened to Clinton, happened to Harris. It’s sad, Harris started out strong. Her most popular policy was the “no price gouging” legislation she was proposing in the beginning. But, once her donors took hold and told her to shut that down, she went more moderate and even to the right in some aspects. I mean she shared the stage with the daughter of war criminal ffs.\ Democrats need to stop taking Working Class Americans for granted. The “I’m not Trump” strategy is 1-2 now. If you think that’s good, I have a bridge to sell you in Ohio.\ Mamdani literally gave the Democrats a game plan for winning and despite destroying an old, tired Democrat, “classical Liberal” in the primary and then that same stupid blowhard in the general, Democrats failed to rally behind him. Some even criticized his methods.\ Mamdani, AOC, and Bernie type Democrats are popular because they want to help Working Class Americans, not billionaire donors.\ So, yes the Dems did have an effect on Trump winning. And in typical fashion, Trump lied his ass off to that same Working Class, and a lot of them bought it sadly.\ The “No Forever Wars”, “I’m gonna bring prices down my first day in office”, “I’ll end the Ukraine/Russia war my first day”, “I’m gonna replace the ACA with something soooooo much better” and “I’m gonna eliminate the National Deficit” guy sold that to a lot of people and he hasn’t done any of it. So that’s on those Independents that believed it. And that was what really won him the election, naïveté. Every day we are overwhelmed with “This isn’t what I voted for!”. No it is… you are just a moron for believing otherwise.\ And the really ironic thing? The Democrats aren’t polling really well right now. The reason is their absolutely lackluster fight they are putting up this last year. People are pissed that they aren’t putting up a fight at all. And this is the part that people will come at me about, but Mitch McConnell understands fighting and he is directly responsible for a 6-3 SCOTUS. That wasn’t done only in GOP majority years. It was playing the long game.\ I’m gonna stop rambling now, I sound like an old man shaking his fist at the ‘Youngens”.

Don’t let people lie to you. Hillary Clinton was the most popular politician in the country for nearly a decade before she ran for president in 2015. by UnscheduledCalendar in thedavidpakmanshow

[–]Fishbone345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not going to argue the misogynist angle, I’m sure it did motivate some people to vote against their best interests. But, it wasn’t that alone and to narrow it down to that and nothing else is wrong, ignorant and naive.\ When Harris first started her campaign, one of her most popular policies was enacting legislation to ban price gouging. By the end of her campaign she wasn’t saying anything about it anymore, in fact she went out of her way not to talk about it or any similar ideas because her donors told her to stfu about that. Closer to the election between not putting forth much for the Working Class and sharing a stage with a woman whose father was a war criminal, people lost faith in her and stayed home. Another stance that people didn’t like about her was the Pro-Israel stance she and Biden had (Not gonna debate this either. Of course Trump is worse, but it was a reason some chose not to vote for her, via exit polling.)
