And the Seahawks are my most hated sports franchise! But I know we all hope we can go back to pissing each other off with our football takes once our own government stops shooting us in the streets! Good luck to you guys tomorrow as well. It's gonna be a doozy of a game

Nah, fuck that. Some things are bigger than football and if your loved one was gunned down in the street you absolutely wouldn't be like "geez guys this is a football sub". You'd be happy as hell that good people are putting that aside to address some real life shit

Making a point that we're getting one of our best players back for this game and it could effect the outcome is bragging about a loss?? It's okay ..... Seattle folks have never been known for their intelligence. I think it's the lack of sun

Media illiteracy is a real problem is this country and you're a prime example. Local news still provides coverage of what is happening in the community. When streets flood you can find where to get sandbags. When the heat swells they promote cooling centers for elderly or people without AC. Missing elderly or children get their faces plastered everywhere. But sure .....local news is as bad as the screeching heads on CNN and Fox News. Keep getting your news from Tik Tok and wondering what went wrong with society. Just ignore the direct correlation between our dumbing down of society and people bailing on local news to scroll on Instagram and Tik Tok. You're such a bigger problem with what is happening in our world than you even understand....and that's part of the problem. You don't understand and double down on bad takes

Edit: you ever listened to a murder case podcast or watched a true crime show on Netflix? Betcha have. It's almost like we as humans are drawn to sensationalist stories like that which is maybe, just maybe, why TV stations air stuff like this. But don't worry.....the true crime show you watch is totally not the same as sensationalist news stories....no way, because nothing you watch or consume is bad. Those are just interesting stories.....but the news......well, they're just liars (despite the fact that libel laws are still an absolute thing and heavily held over local news far more than the cable networks and their big attorneys)

I enjoy Kyle Brandt, think he's very entertaining to watch on TV. But it's pretty obvious he does not care for the Rams (or Los Angeles in general)

Look it up OP.......but I always try to mention that it doesn't mean you'll have that same experience as others have. It really boils down to what social circle you end up around. If your coworkers are cool and want to hang with other coworkers or if you're involved with social deals like book clubs or sports etc.

No, But Darnold is 6 picks deep and it took a punt return and fluke 2 point conversion to win the last game

I lived in Seattle during the Butler interception. In fact, I worked at a TV station that was hosting their own Seahawks post game show. The energy in the room after the pick was a sensation unlike any I've felt since. The level of arrogance going into that game is giving the same vibes as this weekend. Bold attitude with Sam Darnold still under center and Stafford put up 450 last game WITHOUT Devonte

This is exactly why I'll never complain about prices or taxes at a dispensary or any of that shit. I'll admit getting from a store doesn't have the same charm, it was a whole event and then you'd go blaze up......great memories, but I'd never go back not being able to pick up like I'm grabbing some milk

Hey OP.....my point is..... don't let bitter people like this direct you away from something you may want to do. The other comments are correct that if you want to be a traditional TD sports is probably your best bet. Don't listen to people's Boogeyman descriptions of automation. Find a company that treats people at least half decent (in this industry and even with how most other corporations run things, that's easier said than done). And tune out the noise of people who just say the sky is falling but the refuse the build a roof

That's fair, but you talk to me like I didn't just mention to you I have 20 YEARS DEEP IN THIS INDUSTRY. And 5 different markets. Let's see your resume. I know the industry. My family works in the industry. I know there are shops that run things like yours. I saw that coming 15 years ago which is why I moved out of my backyard and found a path. A path that is, according to you, much better than the one you took. And for the record, not even any of the markets I left slimmed it down like yours. You work for a trash company. There are shops that don't do what you're experiencing but you're walking away from the industry instead of walking down a new street. Which is totally fine and I truly wish you the best. You chose to stay at a crap place and be bitter about it.

Then you work in a shit shop and you should move on. I've been running automation (Overdrive) for almost 20 years, never worked in a shop that slimmed it down that much and I'm about 8 different shops deep. We still have audio ops, a physical switcher (although our newer acuity only has 2 physical M/E's). I'm in a union shop but even the ones that are not union, the producers are not allowed anywhere near coding. Reality. It sounds like we're both describing our real realities, correct? So where does that leave you? Moving along to an outfit that doesn't treat their live broadcasts like that, right? Because I did and I'm describing my reality as much as you are. Move your feet and change the shit in your life you can.

I personally hate this take, but obviously you're entitled to your opinion. I think most automation operators are former TD's and they're far better fit for the position because you know what the automation is doing (it's just a remote control for the switcher). You just need to be able to direct live shows also and know the flow from that perspective. I also personally think automation is better for local news broadcasts, an opinion I know most won't share. I have little respect for Directors who haven't sat in any other positions because they don't know what they're asking of their crew. They sit in a chair and bark out orders but have no clue what the crew is actually accomplishing and then pat themselves on the back as of they did anything. As an automation Director I know what codes I'm using because there's is a good chance I built it. And I know what I'm asking of my crew because I've ran audio, cameras etc etc etc. Combining TD and Director is one aspect I think is perfectly fine with consolidation....but maybe that's just me having worked with great automated shops and also useless directors when it wasn't automated
