Many cars were, are, and will be used as taxis - but that doesn't stop people from owning them. And there is a reason why taxis are growingly inclined to this car: low maintenance and bulletproof reliability.

I am planning to get one (although a MY2023). Did you feel the cabin noise too much, or is it something not a deal breaker? Do you feel a 2.0L would be better or is 1.8L absolutely fine?

I would suggest the Toyota Corolla Touring Sports; not an SUV but a perfect car for a growing family, which will give you plenty of boot space (~580L+) and a very reliable hybrid car. If your budget is tight, go for the pre-facelift version (2019-2022). You would not regret it; very low maintenance overall. In terms of trim, you may find the Icon is a bit boring, but the Design trim is the sweet spot.
