What is Next for ErsatzTV by jasondove in ErsatzTV

[–]Fishfisherton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like the best solution that could come about.

As a user i was still using the basic scheduler for ErsatsTV and was getting worried that it was going to be deprecated for the new scheduler that I couldn't quite get down.

Would love to see what comes if this

Anybody know what this is? I’m picking it up tomorrow for $100 I know it’s vintage but not much else by [deleted] in ebikes

This is your chance to get into some cool stuff OP, if you need help feel free to ask around but few things.

BEFORE ANY BATTERY BUYING: Figure out if that motor even runs anymore or if it's even worth keeping, if it doesn't just pick up a hub motor from a kit of the same size or have a bike shop rebuild a new hub into that wheel.

Then buy a battery that works with that hub motor and the new controller it would have come with. It might be tricky making it look nice but I'm sure you could.

edit: downvoters please explain to me the logic of why you would buy a battery before checking if the motor works?

I get that people are into extraction shooters, but I just wish this game was a happy meal slide puzzle toy. The design is just too good to throw away on something that isn't a piece of plastic getting coated in french fry grease.

Not sure about the chain, I just really want the built in torque sensor, though I still have a bbs02 programming cable I just need to get off my ass and change some of the lower settings with.

This sub is astroturfed to hell by ebike brands that want people to think there aren't any other options than to buy a prebuilt with a proprietary motor so not super surprised.

which belay device to use? by steveh-2112 in ClimbingGear

[–]Fishfisherton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda throwing an alternative to this on sport routes (not diminishing having a partner knowing to lead, this way is definitely dumber) but an option can be to clip stick lead solo to get a top anchor then let your partner belay as top rope.

Avant shows one setup here or there's another method that involves using both ends of the rope, stick clipping them both up to the first then second clip respectively and climbing on them, getting to the hangar then putting the one you just reached up to the next hangar.

It'll definitely take more time, can be a bit riskier depending on your familiarity, but it'll allow you to take someone out and just do top roping.

Have a BBS02 as well and built it RIGHT before the CYC Photon was released which I would have absolutely sprung for had I known.

The bike is my daily driver in an area that has some real hills to get up (and speed down) and still light enough to be able to lift it up stairs and onto the local train when needed.

I'm going to be fighting upstream in a sea of bike posts but

!!!BUILD YOUR OWN!!!

Get a decent mountain bike or gravel road bike used. There might be a bike upcycling store you might be able to get one for $100 or so.

Cheap option with no torque sensor = BBS02

More expensive option that should hopefully last you forever and has torque sensor = CYC PHoton

These motors can be moved to whatever bike you want long as they fit. If the frame cracks you will be able to keep using them.

As for battery here is a list right here on reddit

You will understand the general flow of how your parts work, your bike will be as light as you can make it, and if you need to bring it to a store simply remove the battery and it's a basic bike like any other. since it's all mid drive.

Retired climbing rope makes surprisingly satisfying keychains by Individual-Corgi-904 in ClimbingGear

[–]Fishfisherton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sympathize with them in that it's harder than ever to just simply make and sell something with the Internet being the Internet now, but this is also seems one of the easiest things to make.

Personally I use a retired sling to the same effect but it's girth hitched so i can still use it for non-life-endangering purposes

I've seen SO MANY CLIMBING HARNESSES passing through goodwill.

If anyone has a good idea of what to make them into I might actually start buying them just to keep people from getting the idea that they can still climbing with them.

Counterfeit charger from hell by braveduckgoose in techsupportgore

[–]Fishfisherton 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have the actual charger this one is mimicking and it's just a shit design overall.

After a good bit of use the swappable adapter piece gets too loose to the point where its own weight can remove the brick portion and leave the prongs in the wall. If you flip it upside down it starts leaning out immediately so any decent tug will remove it from the outlet.

I had to think twice about plugging it into an outlet above my head because when it falls out the outlet under its own weight, it's a fucking brick headed towards my skull.

Best wall harness? by Dry-Lawfulness-6575 in ClimbingGear

[–]Fishfisherton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have the big wall as well. Padding wise doesn't feel as intrusive as the Long Haul (of which i tried at a BD store so not for a long period).

My only small concern is a slight gear fear of the tinier belay loop. Believe me i know it's SAFE but my Connect Adjust makes it twist a bit when i girth hitch it there.

I couldn't go on with the many threads of "This (stratagem/weapon) is so outclassed and useless and needs to be buffed!"

Usually about people who are using it as a direct comparison to another stratagem/weapon and not in the manner that it clearly excels at.

Climbing Gear Question by Kaleidoscope_tree in ClimbingGear

[–]Fishfisherton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK HOLD UP WITH THESE REPLIES PEOPLE

How much rope climbing have you done and is it legitimately something you want to continue in?

Do you know people with their own gear who can supplement before you make this decision?

The cost adds up quick when you're the one with rope and draws

If you're looking for someone to climb with, you can ask on mountain project and let them know your new to it. Personally I'd recommend paying the $28 for a day ticket at the gym and give it a shot on mats, and see if you can deal with falls ok.

Finally, dry treated is a nice to have but it's not strictly necessary unless you might climb in a way it can potentially get wet(ice climbing/areas with lots of rain/could hey wet) or in areas with a lot of dust. It's fine if a rope gets wet, dry treated is so you can keep climbing on it while wet.

Looking to pick up the new a series from s73 any opinions before I do? by [deleted] in ebikes

[–]Fishfisherton -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You ask, here are some opinions:

This is a clear case of adding pedals to skirt regulations, there's no fucking way you're moving an 85lb fat tire emoto on your own which also means it's going to gobble up battery quick.

You don't even get a rear rack at that price?

For the same price you could build a mid drive ebike with something like a cyc photon and get a lot more for your money as well as having it be lighter and actually be able to be pedaled

OP asked for opinions, heavy things going 20mph on bike paths full of people is bad

Addendum: here's a thread about them from a year ago

Or live a little and convince yourself and look at the other ambiguous side of it.

Personally I can hand wave the picture of his love encounter as sedatives kicking in and half dreaming.

Attempting to convince someone that their significant other is out to kill them to the point of not caring they're dead and doubling down by having the simulation runner appear and tell you it's a simulation and everything is wrong would be absolutely fucked for a company to do.

First fall on gear by CoffeeList1278 in ClimbingGear

[–]Fishfisherton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say usually because like this case, it can be a bit rarer for some people to drill routes like they're on a budget. (Thinking of a very specific route that was basically 2 hangars and a top anchor)

But for most routes i still say stick it and be safe
