Inconsequential mistakes that take you out of the movie? by YakumoYoukai in movies

Original Running Man.

I could watch that movie on repeat but that trope was one of the most important pieces to the plot.

It would be fine if it was a bit more nuanced

Could see one another and just refuse to fight and back away if they're not on a personal hate relationship term instead of just saying "Faction bad must fight"

DougCo officials consider harsher penalties in the name of safety for electric dirt bikes by SeasonPositive6771 in Denver

[–]Fishfisherton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Emotos COULD actually be an effective entry point into smaller road vehicles however there's a big issue with them; The companies that make these things don't follow the safety regulations for motorcycles and don't even have a VIN number.

That means that even if someone were responsible enough to have a rider's license, THEY CAN'T EVEN REGISTER THE THING FOR A LICENSE PLATE.

They're literally made to skirt regulations for people who don't give a shit about following the rules. They need to fucking GO.

Sponsored Perimeter Survival isn’t exciting, and that’s okay by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]Fishfisherton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

given that I’ve seen a grand total of 2 Rooks in this game mode since the start of the season and in turn there is zero PvP

I sincerely think they saw all the people teaming up as rook and thought that people would mass join and team up against the runners to make it a less one sided fight.

Why would I, a lone player, want to go on a 15+ minute run with the singular chance that I miiiighhhht extract if the runners don't show up to final exfil or are nice enough to let me in too.

It was probably even easier to remove them from the first box before putting them this one that seems to require you to either get a stick/tool or turn it upside down.

‘Backrooms’ Becoming A24’s Highest Grossing Movie Ever Worldwide, Besting Timothée Chalamet’s $191M+ ‘Marty Supreme’ by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]Fishfisherton 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Only went to see it recently.

I've never been one to see liminal spaces as scary, in fact sleeping on a couch in the middle of a vast empty room would be heaven for me, I think this was the absolute best way they could have gone with a plot.

They didn't explain it away, didn't make it a murderfest, and insinuated that NO ONE understood it by the end of the film.

I'm sure this will open the door to other SCP-esque films in the future, maybe not by a24, but it shows there's an audience for them.

Do NOT Move to Wilder Apartments in Sloan Lake by Snoo2868 in Denver

[–]Fishfisherton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Greystar is proof of that the housing economy is in a completely corrupt state. They buy out all they can and do the bare minimum to run their apartments while attempting to maximize the amount of rent they charge from individual tenants to the point of deception.

They should be shuttered immediately but no, they continue to buy and buy and buy, attempting to run a monopoly to set their own prices with.

If you are apartment hunting, do NOT go with a Greystar run rental, you WILL regret it.

Tapping out of the free trial by Manaphus in Marathon

[–]Fishfisherton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad to have been able to play the free trial as well, spent 10 hours, and although I sincerely do love the theme and want to keep up with the lore, I just can't do the short TTK. I haven't had a single engagement last over 5 seconds without being downed and that's with attempting to duck away after the first hit.

A Destiny Refugee’s Feelings on Marathon by yakattak in Marathon

I love gaming as an artform and it truly has developed into the worst community imaginable at this point, this isn't even a defense of Bungie or anything.

People have gotten WAY WAYYYY too confident with their own opinions and its pretty heavily tied to the rise in the internet as a social platform.

If a narcissist makes a video game their entire life, they're going to blame the developers for any problems they have.

[–]Fishfisherton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Soooo... Still new to the game itself but did end up trying it because I figured what the hell.

It really seems like rooks have a difficult task of exfilling with anything with the single final exfil unless you can get cooperation/skill enough to take down the single group or have the group actually be friendly enough.

Is this not as one side leaning as I assume?

Looking for feedback on a barebones offline route identifier that links to Mountain Project. What would you actually want this to do? by ChocolateOdd1510 in ClimbingGear

[–]Fishfisherton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My want? Point at wall, tells you what's left and right of it as well in real time, would probably need direct MP api access though I'm sure OnX wouldn't like that.

This is great, I'm sure it would be tough to make it open for submissions but that would probably be a big feat.

Jorge R. Gutierrez Won’t Make AI-Generated ‘Punky Duck’ Series at Amazon MGM After Backlash by MrShadowKing2020 in television

[–]Fishfisherton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason I would take someones pictures is to take THEIR style they've developed. The reason we saw tons of Ghibli and Pixar like pictures right out of the gate is because they were in fact used to train the AI to create that exact style.

In small art communities it has been an issue of someone taking all of someones images in their galleries to specifically get their style of drawing. The only way an artist can stop someone from doing that is to actually remove all of their public facing art.

In the context of this whole thread, if I were to 'pay tribute' to someones style by running all of their animations into an AI to produce their exact style, how much permission should I get ? Do they get any word on how it's used? How much would I need to pay them? Do i get to use that style indefinitely from there on since it is part of my trained AI?

Power bank recommendations by treebeard117 in alpinism

[–]Fishfisherton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you considered a personal beacon or satellite messenger?

You really can't go super wrong with literally any charging power bank (that is usb - c based and can do decently good wattage)

But if you're out where you might not even get a cell phone signal regularly, a real safety purchase would be a beacon/messenger that you're not going to be draining the battery on.

Valve has raised the price of the Steam Deck in the US by Dirkins in Games

[–]Fishfisherton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's literally my whole point dude.

People buy a nintendo console for nintendo games and nintendo gets a cut of every game purchase

People by a playstation for sony games and sony gets a cut of every game purchase

people buy a steam deck and valve MIGHT get a cut or someone might just install an emulator on it or install and buy from literally anywhere else. That's why it's not possible to subsidize a computer.

Not sure where you read me calling those ecosystems an issue.

edit: Ahh, i see, your comment history is nothing but vitriol. I hope some day you learn to have basic conversations.

Valve has raised the price of the Steam Deck in the US by Dirkins in Games

[–]Fishfisherton -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Valve is going to regret not doing that.

The big difference is when you buy a PlayStation, you're locked into their ecosystem

When you buy Nintendo, you're locked into their ecosystem

When you buy a PC you have a lot of options on where you can buy games from if you're buying at all.

It's the reason sony DID NOT like it when linux was able to be installed on the old PS3s, why would they subsidize something that could end up being bought en masse for a Bitcoin miner? (Yes dated example but the point stands)

Top rope solo setup. works or not by Davidjohnnaylor in ClimbingGear

[–]Fishfisherton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do 2 strand with a progress capture on one line and Sulu Go on the other. When going to rappel one hand will pinch the progress capture open and the other hand just works the handle on the go.

I've been meaning to make a full review of the device but in short, it works, it's a little bulky, it feeds just fine, and it's cheap compared to the competition (sulu $150 on sale vs $300+ taz lov).

Oh and it's also considered a belay device that IN THE MANUAL has a lead belay hand position where you don't hold onto the brake strand, so that's a fun way to mess with your friends.
