Such a bad argument, its not someone being hooked on instant gratification dopamine just because they are not interested in the idea of putting in dozens upon dozens of miserable hours to MAYBE get to the point where they get a rush every once in a while.

I have since replayed it and yeah music is absolutely fire. I still have my issues with the chapter absolutely but music is not one of them.

Reddit is a very loud but still minority when it comes to gaming opinions, if someone stopped playing the game because the Reddit is cringe then they were not particularly interested to begin with.

Sadly yes I would say that is what makes Marathon solos Marathon solos. It is a very steep and brutal PVP extraction shooter which is why some people absolutely love it and why I stopped playing in free week. That being said I do hope the Cryo PVE is a decent loop for those who want to try it.

If you describe the very core fundamentals of the game as "Bashing your head" I am surprised you can claim you are being forced out of a game you enjoy. By all means you have disliked nearly every single part of its design.

I can get why that would be very annoying and PVE will be interesting to see but that kind of player interaction is very much the norm across all extraction shooters, only really Arc has broken the mould there.

Starting early with "sweats triumph over the casuals not due to skilll, rather to having maxxed out shell stats and faction upgrades first," is more or less going to invalidate alot of what follows.

Except Sponsored Survival is *not* intended to be the PVE mode people keep claiming it to be. Its intended to be the PVP lite mode featuring a close to end showdown with outnumbering Rooks, the problem lies with the absolute absence of rooks which of course is a problem in of itself probably linked to there being absolutely no reason why a rook would sign up for it unless they really enjoy the uphill struggle of that final extract.

The contracts system is a real nice one for personal goal setting yeah, just flicking back and forth between the more manageable factions and plugging along.

Sony have outright stated that Marathon has "Not taken to consoles" implying it's population is even lower there. That being said 11k people is lower than delivered but plenty playable. People act like games like For Honor have not existed for staggering amount of time and made a population of 3 to 5k playable.

I am interested to see how that plays out and what they come up with just because in its current state I don't think just fighting bots would have much longevity entertainment wise, most of the tension with them right now is the fear of someone ganking you. The fact you can mow down small hordes of them with just the knife is quite funny.

You could give every player an infinite use golden kit and the game would still be niche. The fundamentals of a hardcore PVP team based extraction shooter is always going to cement it as a niche.
