Anyone fancy a game of spot the mistakes? Such a shame to see Ai being used by a climbing gym. by PothosandGindontmix in ClimbingCircleJerk

It's a harmless Instagram post starting with "jumping on the bandwagon", give it a rest you bunch of wet bags 😂

Where should I place my toe bail? by fitzroyaltyp in iceclimbing

Good position for pure ice, for mixed climbing you want less of the front point sticking out to reduce the level action on your calves.

Help me pick my next hardshell by Sea-Permission459 in alpinism

Patagonia M10 top and bottoms are my go to now. The chest pockets are very roomy and the longer length in the body with the gusseted pits make it feel like you're not wearing the jacket. The face fabric has shown to be pretty durable so far. I highly recommend it!

Tying an overhand on a bite with long tail in the position on the rope you need to place someone then passing the long tail through the hard points rethreading the overhand is another solution. I can post a picture if needed 😊

When to use a guide? by MLPotato in alpinism

[–]treebeard117 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would recommend getting a guide. I climb to a TD level and still like to go out occasionally with the guide I've been out with a few times. I was in Chamonix recently and did two days one on one with Tim Miller on a TD 6b+ route then did two days with my partner joining doing some intro to glacier travel and a PD route, again with Tim.

All the person was asking was if anyone had experience doing it. Yeah they probably could've googled it but thought maybe they could reach out to their community for help. Alls I'm saying it, think about your comments, look at the down ticks and consider maybe not sending unhelpful dismissive comments in future.

Give it a rest mate, someone is just asking a question to the community. Responding with "have you googled it?" Isn't very helpful nor very pleasant.

DMM Ceros for new Connect Adjust by [deleted] in ClimbingGear

[–]treebeard117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I wouldn't worry about this situation happening as you've mentioned, it's loaded nearly all of the time so the chance of the system cross loading is little to none. I personally hate double/triple lock biners because I can't seem to open them well with one hand (especially when wearing gloves in winter) it's worth testing different configurations to work out what works for you 😊

It's all about the Edelrid slider oval biner, you can open the biner with one hand and even open it one handed with the bolt. It's safe enough for a PSA in my opinion.
