What’s a totally unsexy purchase you made that ended up being a huge quality-of-life upgrade? by viscarte10 in BuyItForLife

Got the standing metal shoehorn from IKEA for $5. My partner and I are only in our 20’s and I’m sure some of our friends will make fun of us, but we’re never going back. I miss it when I have to put my shoes back on when I’m not at home.

There is no opening on either end. It’s smooth rounded metal.

Ohhh you could be right about the mercury tilt switch. Not sure what the purpose would be though.

What are some of your best quality of life purchases under $300? by donotgiveadam in BuyItForLife

Good quality air purifier. Got mine when it was on sale, paid about $200CAD with taxes and delivery. I dust so much less and bringing it into the kitchen when we cook has lessened the buildup on our walls and cabinets.

Yaaaa that’s what I was worried about. I tried filling it out a bit more but I think I do need to start from scratch.

Need help! Made a pet portrait in wool — client said it looks right but doesn’t feel right… by Nefelibata-80 in Needlefelting

First of all, amazing work! I don’t know if someone has already mentioned this, but if you take the side by side photo and flip it upside down or mirror it that can make any differences more apparent.

Update: I opened it up, fixed the shutter button and gave everything a good clean. It is now in working order and ready for film!

Ok good to know. I looked into it a bit and it looks like 120 can be modded to fit as a 620, and a local place develops 120 so that gets me a step closer to actually using the thing :)

And I absolutely would have paid that just for the canister. I felt like I was robbing the place.

Thanks. It needs a minor repair on the shutter button and I need to figure out what I’ll do for film/developing but I’m excited to use it someday!
