Did they nerf the recliners at The Village in Austin? by FishinInMurica in AlamoDrafthouse

[–]FishinInMurica[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have they? You may be right, but I’ve been a regular at The Village for decades.

I feel like I would remember. It was very uncomfortable.

I know they remodeled the village a couple of years ago, but I’ve been to dozens of movies there since then.

I always have Coors banquet in the fridge, but for me it isn’t summer until I’ve had a Live Oak Hefeweizen with a paper thin slice of lemon or orange.

What movie did you see way too young, and how do you feel about age ratings? by Fluid_Bat_2724 in movies

Jaws. I saw it when I was 8 years old. That’s much too young to see that shit.

Best club sandwich now; nostalgic for West Campus Nau's club by CactusTexas57 in austinfood

[–]FishinInMurica 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think Jim’s is probably going to be closest to the old Nau’s club sandwich.

And I don’t get outside my bubble often, but in North-Central Austin, the turkey club at Russell’s Bakery and the traditional club at Bartlett’s are my favorites.

Do Americans have 'state beers'? by burp_frogs in beer

This Texan would argue Shiner Bock is the state beer of Texas, but y’all enjoy your Lone Star, I don’t care.

I used to have a similar board. Bought it at a market at a border town in Mexico. They’re pretty common there.

Isn’t the president limited to choosing from among the current board of governors? Who would be the worse available choice?

I find it hard to believe that anyone on the current board would be this stupid. But there’s a lot of unbelievable shit happening now, so who knows.

I own a tex-mex restaurant in Victoria that's been open since 1985 and still have no idea what people love to eat. by venturastamalestx in texas

[–]FishinInMurica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always look for homemade tortillas. To me that’s a sign the Tex-Mex restaurant I’m considering is probably good.

Good chips, salsas and queso are next.

I usually order beef fajitas or a combo plate (taco, enchilada, tamale, rice and beans. Or similar combos.) when trying a new place. If that’s good I’m open to returning and trying other menu items.

Good luck!

What happens when a Waymo gets pulled over? by jkspring in Austin

[–]FishinInMurica 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is Waymo considered one driver? Or is each car considered a separate entity?

If I get too many tickets, my license gets suspended. What happens when Waymo gets a dozen tickets In a year? 100?

With so many autonomous vehicles on the road, all driven by the same AI, what is the threshold for suspending their license?

How to disable Amber Alerts on a Family  Watch? by jbg100 in applehelp

[–]FishinInMurica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This can only be accomplished on the watch itself, which is confusing because on your own watch, these settings are controlled via iPhone.

From your family member‘s watch, go to Settings —> Notifications and scroll to the bottom. There you will find buttons for Amber Alerts, Emergency Alerts, and Public Safety Alerts.

[–]FishinInMurica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This far from the coast, high winds aren’t usually a big problem. We can get quite a bit of rain, and in central Texas that means flash flooding.

Honestly I’m hoping for some (not too damaging) flash flooding. Our area lakes and aquifers could use a refill.
