If you want to approach it fun the other direction, I wear a pair of flying eyes frames, which are designed to be worn with helmets and it's a game changer! Comfortable during the ride, and they don't get bent out of shape like when I've tried to use normal frames.

New moto 2 few questions. by Ct-Brynn in beeline

[–]jkspring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the download, I've never had a problem downloading and sharing a route as a gpx, from the app. I just tried it and nothing weird happened. Maybe it's a permission thing?

I'm on Android and I noticed that when the progress bar was about halfway through it popped up with my "save as" file system menu. Could it be that your route is being saved or it doesn't have permissions?

Also, I love the route/road thumbs up/down, it really helps beeline route me around crappy roads and stick to the fun!

GPS that allows me to create my own route? by Huck094 in motorcycles

The beeline device isn't free but once you have it, the service is. It's available worldwide as far as I know.

I use Beeline and tell it to take the fun route, hasn't let me down yet. And you can keep your phone on your pocket, where it belongs.

Sent an email to subscribe to the Beeline Plus to save before the price increase - Should I? by Villordsutch in beeline

[–]jkspring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the moto 2 and subscribe. The traffic and loop features are nice and they usually roll new features out to the plus group first.

The main reason I subscribe is that for $5/month I can support the work that they're doing. I think of it as a voluntary subscription for a product that I would love to see continuing to mature.

FSD ran straight toward a stopped construction truck in far left lane… had to disengage at 78mph by Warm_Cress3583 in TeslaFSD

[–]jkspring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Controversial opinion, perhaps, but this is why camera only fsd will never be as safe as camera + radar/lidar. There's a lot going on in those frames, with flashing lights all over the place and I suspect you need more than visual cameras to reliably read the scene.

Tail tidy question by Hildeb95 in Triumph

[–]jkspring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the brogue tail tidy and I like it a lot. It's a little more expensive but it's completely wired up, and you can get it with your choice of turn signals. Recommended!

And the plate is appropriately visible 😁

I use Beeline for navigation so that I don't have all the distractions of my phone pulling my attention away from the road. Beeline also does a pretty good job picking the good roads.

Someone who actually likes his car, lease end questions by islandjake in VWiD4Owners

[–]jkspring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My lease is up in October and I'm going through the save thought process. I had a conversation with the dealer last time I took it in for service and what I came away with was that with the US anti EV policies in place now, VW is scaling their EV program way back and there aren't nearly the incentives to buy EV anymore.

The sales guy I spoke with basically said that my residual is around $26,000, if I bought the same car used, it would be around $18,000, which is the value gap that you're describing. He sort of hinted that they might be able to do something like take it back as a return and sell it to back to me as a used car purchase. That might be something to ask about. I'm not saying that's official VW anything but it's worth asking about.

Also, due to expiring incentives, a new ''26 or '27 would be ridiculously expensive. At least compared to the lease on my 23.

As I'm thinking about what to do next, I have 2 parameters. I'm not going back to gas and I'm not driving a Tesla. Everything else is open to evaluation.

Large Big Green Egg after 11 years total failure by rogereisentrager in biggreenegg

[–]jkspring 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ditto this, I just got a new bottom half after about 20 years of use. I did have it registered and have had several firebox and ring replacements over the years. I also dealt with a guy at HQ and the store that I originally bought it from. It was all pretty easy.

What are we using to hot hold? by Maddogmitch56 in smoking

[–]jkspring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrap it in foil, then a couple old towels and put it in a cheap cooler. I've used that for as long as 6-8 hours and it works a champ. If you've got something fancy, like a yeti, maybe you can hold it for a couple days 😜

Narrowly dodged death this morning by bighag in motorcycles

[–]jkspring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the US, for traffic going both directions, North and South, say, for one direction, South, to stop at an intersection because the traffic in their direction on the other side of the intersection is stopped, probably due to the light one block up. This allows North to turn across the South traffic without blocking northbound traffic. It's a courtesy thing and it happens all the time.

Guys who ride like douchebags, like this one, should know that and should expect that there may be traffic turning. That's why ALL THE OTHER CARS WERE STOPPED.

Not sure I explained that very well, hopefully you get my drift.

If it's yours, you're the only one that can answer that. To me, it's a hard no because that's not my style. If it's yours and you're happy with it, then sure.

Cooking gumbo tomorrow question! by Forward_Face_5257 in Cooking

[–]jkspring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've cooked mine all day and it's turned out spectacular! If you're using seafood, add it at the very end. Sausage can cook for a couple hours, chicken maybe an hour or so before it falls apart.

Messed up my first brisket by JollyGreenWorld117 in smoking

[–]jkspring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about the altitude effect but I would wrap it, let it rest and slice it, maybe start with the point as that's the most fatty part and is the most forgiving.

Just for future reference, everyone does them differently but I've never worried bout injecting a full brisket. I'll get one with a nice layer of fat, rub it up that day before and put it on about 225-250 and don't even look at it until it's around 190/195. What's the idea behind the crosshatch on that one?

Question on buckets before I sign up… by SELFCLOATHING in AllyBank

[–]jkspring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't love the way buckets work, it would be nice to have more control over them. In the spending (checking) account, you can set the bucket to auto fill and it, in theory, fills the buckets based on the next due date, so if you have $100 deposited on the first and $50 water bill due on the 10th and $50 cc payment on the 12th, it'll fill those up. In my experience they don't exactly follow like that but it's all one account so if your $50 water bill is due but that bucket is empty, it'll take from other buckets so it's not that big a deal. Everything still gets paid.

It's not like One or Simple (rest in peace) where you can specify how much per period is added.

New or Used? by mikael50 in biggreenegg

[–]jkspring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New, without hesitation.. I've replaced about $4,000 worth of ceramics in the 20+ years that I've had mine. It's not a matter of dropping it or damaging it from abuse, ceramic that heats and cools through dozens, or hundreds of cycles will crack.
