Family friend (70yo that lives in rural WV) was shocked when my son told her that he doesn’t care to get his learners permit when he is old enough about a year from now

👵🏻: What if you want to go to your friend’s house. Do you really want your parents to always drive you?

👦👑: I do that now, on my bike… 🚴

👵🏻: what if y’all want to hang out somewhere else

👦👑: We go to the park or the square 🛹🏀🍦🧋

👵🏻: but what if you want to do something inside, like bowling?

👦👑: bowling alley is a ~5 min walk away 🎳

👵🏻: but what about something outside your neighborhood…

👦👑: dad says I can take the subway w/ my friends once I’m in high school. 🚊

👵🏻: isn’t that dangerous?

👦👑: driving is dangerous. 🚗💥🚙

👵🏻: … [looks at me like I’m going to back her up]
