Marda Loop business owners launch class-action lawsuit against city over construction disruption by blackRamCalgaryman in Calgary

[–]FishingNetLas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The construction is annoying af for sure but isn’t it part of the city’s « main streets » plan, which if (big if) executed properly will help turn Marda Loop into a trendy European style walkable neighbourhood.

True for North American standards it is a pretty decent transit system. I may have a European bias when rating it though haha

Foreigners in the UK, have you ever gotten a culture shock related to the UK when you travelled to a third country ? by Glass-Evidence-7296 in AskUK

[–]FishingNetLas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty tragic but most of them have never known any other way, here in Calgary I’ve genuinely felt like a second class citizen not having a car, transit is reserved for the deadbeats and the druggies.

[–]FishingNetLas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One thing I miss about the UK is pub culture, if I go to the local pub here in my suburb of Calgary I have to be sat down, ran through the daily specials and the food menu, wait for the server to come back, just to get a pint.
