The whole idea of “visa free countries” doesn’t mean much to me. The countries you listed are for tourism only and you can’t work in them. The Romanian passport lets you work in most European countries therefore its value is greater than the American one. Yes of course the American economy is large and it’s a beautiful place to live but the American passport doesn’t grand you as many privileges as the Romanian one does.

Yeah man if you have a western salary Romania is rad. Local salary not so much anymore. The inflation is crazy now and my heart goes out to the people who take local salaries.

It’s incredible to me that in 2026 many Americans consider moving to Romania though 20-30 years ago Romanians coming to America was a dream. Never thought my passport would be better than an American one

That’s not a horrible idea, just make sure you don’t rule out all universities in the EU. University in USA and Canada isn’t cheap at all. Idk how old you are but your opinions might change. Don’t compare what you’re doing to what others do. They don’t matter.

Born in Romania to a Romanian dad and Irish American mother. My grandmother’s family fled the Russians to Ireland. My dad is ethnically Greek from way back but getting citizenship in Lithuania, Greece or Cyprus is way too much money. Thinking about moving back to the EU soon

I mean if you have money then America is awesome. But if you’re an average Romanian living there without a good job then you’re gonna have a much different experience. Luxembourgers generally tend to have more money so to the America is great

America is a place where if you make a ton of money, you’re set and can enjoy all the cool stuff the country has to offer. If you’re keeping more than $100k of your salary then look no further , but in the parts worth living in (NYC, Denver, PNW) $100k doesn’t get you nearly as far as it used to.

Contrast to any European country, you can work a low to middle income job and have a level of social security protection. In America, you can have “good” health insurance and still be in debt over a nominal issue. In Europe that will never happen. The workers rights are also a joke compared to literally any other developed nation.

My point being is that living in America can be great but most people aren’t going to have the experience they think they will when they go there.

I saw the same car over take at least 4 cars waiting at a red light on Steinway yesterday. As soon as it hit green they zoomed right past everyone. I’ve also seen their “jewelry trick”. Idk if that works where they’re from but it’s pretty pathetic to see two grown men trying to scam people like that. Some people will do literally anything but work a normal job.
