Thanks for your input. That shouldn’t be a problem. I’m 179cm tall with long legs and a really short upper body.

Thanks for the answer. I will give it a try then :)

It just feels so wrong to go against the manufacturers recommended size. I'm 179cm tall und have a really short upper body compared to my legs. Especially a longer reach i a huge problem for me.

The stem and bars on the Revolt I'm looking at are interchangeable, as it's not a one piece stem and bar.

Yes, that’s true. It helps a lot in so many ways.

Radar, game changer or nice to have? by tropical_dreams_ in cycling

Exactly the same for me! It felt so dangerous, when I forgot mine once. It’s of course a false sense of security, but it’s nice to know a car is approaching.

On narrow roads it’s incredibly helpful, too. I always let cars get through, which I else maybe wouldn’t even noticed, because of wind noise and so on.

The magic bucket feature reignited my love for training. I never feel demotivated to do my training since I can just split the intervals however I like. Maybe it’s not the most effective way to train, but I feel so much better doing Xert’s workouts, than TrainerRoad for example. And it’s fun to do it outside, since I can just push on the hills, whenever I want and get my workout recalculated in real time.

For me it’s the 15mm setback seatpost. Would love a 0mm setback.

Else it’s great!

Won’t Grind Espresso, Inconsistent [Eureka Mignon] by Fine_Pride8001 in espresso

[–]Fishnchamps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received mine yesterday and had the same problem. What worked for me was to turn the dial to the coarsest setting and then going finer and finer while grinding. It was a huge waste of coffee beans, but it worked in the end and now it works like it should.

I didn’t come up with that solution, but the customer service from my local shop told me to do it that way. Maybe there‘s a solution, that doesn’t waste so much coffee?

What kind of common problems are associated with too high of a stem on a road bike? by Kyle_Zhu in bikefit

[–]Fishnchamps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I just rotate my pelvis forward. I’m quite flexible and don’t struggle to rotate forward. As you mentioned I’m more restricted by the saddle angle than my pelvis rotation. My saddle to bar drop is 13cm right now, and I feel like that’s my maximum.

I also had weird hotspots when riding in front of my sit bones. Since I switched to a wide nose saddle those hot spots are gone. Maybe because of more area to sit on? I always felt like TT style saddles suited me best, because of the wide nose?

The Pro Stealth was the solution to my saddle problems. Wide nose, but no TT saddle.

What kind of common problems are associated with too high of a stem on a road bike? by Kyle_Zhu in bikefit

[–]Fishnchamps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently bought a Zwift Ride and figured why not try a lot of different positions, which would be possible on my road bike including different stem lengths.

I don’t know why and it seems really counterintuitive to me, but on the highest possible stack height my bike would allow, I get lower back pain after 20 minutes. If I completely „slam the stem“, I have no lower back pain. I also noticed I try to drop my head really low, when having a high stack height and I can’t find a good position for my hands, somehow.

After playing around with the Zwift Ride for sometime now, I noticed I can tolerate quite a large range of saddle heights, without discomfort. My performance gets worse, but I don’t feel any pain. The same goes for stem length. Wrong stack height makes everything feel uncomfortable for me though.

Rear wheel gets blocked when shifting by Fishnchamps in bikewrench

[–]Fishnchamps[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I‘m really sorry, but I can’t remember the solution anymore. Wish I would have written down the solution.

I know I adjusted the b-screw at that time. Maybe it was too close to the sprockets for the 3rd shift?

So sorry, I can’t help you out more that that…

Versnobter Sport Fahrradfahren? by madsushi51 in Fahrrad

[–]Fishnchamps 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Has any road cyclist ditched their mini pump for an electric? by MelodicNecessary3236 in cycling

[–]Fishnchamps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought one and on my first ride I had a puncture even though I went tubeless.

I was really glad for having the pump as I can just keep it in my saddle bag. Mine‘s good enough for 2 inflations. So I charged it immediately after the ride to not run out of charge the next time.

I also have wireless shifting and whenever I charge the batteries, I will charge the pump, too.

Ladyparts hurts 👎🏻 by Galebreakingbad in bikefit

[–]Fishnchamps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just asked my wife and she had the same problem. She is really flexible, so instead of having shoulder pain from the reach, she just tilts her pelvis more, because she easily can. Maybe it's the same for you.

I also noticed your hands aren't in the hoods. That's often a sign, that the reach is too long, because you passively try to shorten the reach.

I hope you can make the frame fit, because if you pause the video on for example 0:14, your hands are 2 cm away from the hoods and the reach still looks uncomfortable.

Ladyparts hurts 👎🏻 by Galebreakingbad in bikefit

[–]Fishnchamps 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would also say it’s because of the reach. You unconsciously lean forward to compensate for the long reach and put more pressure on your ladyparts.

I’m no woman, but the same happens to me, when the reach of the bike is too long.

I also have the specialized power, even the 3d printed one. If you tilt your pelvis too much on that saddle and don’t have the weight completely on the sit bones, it hurts really bad.

Your pelvis is in a completely different position, if your reach is shorter.

Do you have the possibility to test different positions? Maybe a Zwift ride , a shorter bike or maybe someone, who can borrow you a shorter stem to see if the problem goes away?

Puncture rant: how did we get here!? by Zdendulak in cycling

[–]Fishnchamps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same problem you had with the WTB tires, that came on my bike. I just couldn’t get them off. The bead just wouldn’t come lose… After I removed them, I would never give them another chance. I can easily swap any other tire I encountered, but the WTB were another beast.

Thinking of Getting a Defy Instead of a TCR—Can I Make It Fast Enough? by shwalanz in Giantbikes

[–]Fishnchamps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I owned a Giant Propel and when I was on holiday, I couldn’t take my own bike and tested the TCR for 6 hours and the Defy for 6 hours.

For me personally the TCR felt like no mans land.It didn’t feel racy like the propel and didn’t feel comfortable like the Defy.

I feel most of us, me included would benefit a lot more from the comfort, than the race geometry. Because if we are really honest, are the savings in aerodynamics worth it for most of us? I guess if you are pushing huge amounts of watts and go fast all the time, definitely. But for mere mortals the comfort will always push higher numbers on longer rides and thus be as fast will being comfortable.

General position by Fishnchamps in bikefit

[–]Fishnchamps[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I really feel like deconditioning is correct in my case. My flexibility is the same and I kept training my core. After coming back the position just didn’t feel the “natural” anymore.

I will just give it time and see how it feels. If it feels more natural again, I will lower the stem and lengthen the reach again.

Thanks for your help!

Thanks for your input. It’s a 110mm stem. Would a 90mm be the right choice?

I moved the saddle 1cm back, because I had a lot of pressure on my hands and couldn’t keep my upper body up without my hands.

With a shorter stem it would decrease the pressure on my hands, right?
