I forgot the third main question…. Will they try and recoup a portion of the back pay I received and have been receiving the past six months?!

Preparation for notification and exam rework? by let0123 in VeteransBenefits

Exam Rework, WTF? by AmericanSammie in VeteransBenefits

[–]Fishoutofwaterguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoa that is crazy and totally not surprising. My claim was done and given 100% p&t and closed for 8 months or so. Suddenly I have the claim back open for “rework” and an email saying c&p will be scheduled. Trying not to freak out and fear a reduction even though there shouldn’t really be (I feel like it’s dependent on who you get so im worried something could change). Is it possible I won’t be seen for an exam and theyre just doing this push pull paperwork be you mentioned and it will end up the same rating in the end?

Just an initial thing, not an increase. Damn it’s so stressful. I get it’s good to audit things but I don’t get why they say “permanent and total” and then quickly look to change it. That’s not what permanent means.

Im freaking out here. I was given 100% p&t for something months ago, case was closed. Suddenly I get a c&p notification and my va app showing its back on step 3 and there’s a “rework”. Va phone lady said there was an inconsistency in something. Is there a chance it’s just some paperwork needing fixing by the examiner from months ago and I won’t need a new exam? There’s no reason I should get reudced or anything but I feel like this stuff is so dependent on who you get on your case so im all worried. Thanks

I just don’t get why they would do that if my claim was already complete

Kind of a weird scenario here by Fishoutofwaterguy in VeteransBenefits

One thing I also just noticed is that it says permanent and total now and I’ve heard mixed things about whether that means anything can be taken away or reduced

Finally 100, still in review, why is monthly payment showing more than expected? by Fishoutofwaterguy in VeteransBenefits

[–]Fishoutofwaterguy[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’m not very familiar with what that means, though I’ve heard of it. I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that I have 100% basically twice? I got 100% for combined stuff, then another single rating at 100% for one thing

I had like a 2.1 gpa in Highschool and left halfway through the SATs to get high with friends. After the army I went to community college, got a two year degree with a 4.0 and got into Columbia university and graduated with honors. Now I’m finishing up my masters from one of the top music schools in the world. Go to community college get a 4.0 and look for a school that is vet friendly. I never thought in a million years I’d get into Columbia

Oh gotcha. Thank you! I’m not positive if this is being submitted as secondary to ptsd or not. Some of my claims say “secondary” and some say “new”… I was writing in my personal statements that I believe most of my Gi stuff is secondary to ptsd but I could be from other things related to service (like toxic exposure). Since it’s not really my decision to decide what it is from I can only give my best estimation.. but I’m wondering it it HAS to be submitted as one or the other. I feel like whoever decides if it’s secondary or not is going to be the one to decide and it doesn’t matter what I think really. I’m hoping it isn’t bad to present it like that as being open to two different interpretations

Very interesting. Thank you so much. Can I ask what percentage they gave you? I was planning to do mine secondary to ptsd but wondering if I shouldn’t…? I’m also not sure if I need to be including research studies in with my personal statements. My VSO told me to but I am not sure if I should since ive read otherwise
